Review Summary

AI summary of user-generated reviews for this vehicle
The vehicle offers a smooth ride and good fuel efficiency. The base engine provides adequate performance, though some find it could be more powerful. The CVT transmission is a point of contention, with mixed reviews on its performance. The interior quality is seen as decent but not exceptional compared to competitors. While not a standout in any particular area, the vehicle appears to be a solid, practical choice for those seeking a comfortable, fuel-efficient sedan.

Positive Review

"Very happy so far."

I traded my 2012 Altima SL for a 2020. I must have hit it just right, end of month, end of quarter, I felt like I got a great deal. I was very happy with the 2012, 64000 miles, only repair was a $300 alternator. The 2020 is noticeably more powerful, even though the engines are the same. The biggest difference I noticed is the gas mileage. I never got better than 27 MPG with the 2012. My first highway trip with the new one I got an amazing 39 MPG. I am averaging 34 MPG city/highway, which I love. I really like the exterior styling and think it stands out compared to the Camry and Accord. I shopped all three cars, and while all are good, in my opinion the Altima is by far the best value. I do wish it had memory seating, and believe it should at the SL price point. My wife and I share it, it's a pain to always change the seat settings. I know, minor issue, quit whining. Otherwise I am very pleased so far, the car is extremely comfortable, performs well, and looks great.

Critical Review

"Don't Judge a Book by its Cover!"

I certainly was fooled by the great design of my 2019 Altima. The red color certainly made the car very outstanding. With all its beauty came ugliness. I now own the car over 2 years and the CVT transmission still jerks back and forth while driving under 10 mph. My wife and I are so frustrated with this. It actually is causing neck problems with all the stuttering back and forth. For over 2 years each time I bring the car into Nissan for this issue,I am told it is a software problem. Still, till this date,no software updates. Don't get fooled by this car's looks,it is very deceiving. I would consider other 4 door sedans before considering a Nissan Altima!!!!

Cameras
Pros

Rides smooth, sufficient pick-up, comfortable

Cons

poor optics and their operation

I had a 2020 Altima SL and it was a wonderful car. I wanted something newer, so my salesperson recommended the 2026 Altima SR Premium. In my excitement, I failed to do my due diligence. When using the 360 camera, I noticed that the camera images were unacceptably poor - faded out and without detail. Then I noticed that when I was using the ProPilot Assist, the camera is supposed to read the outside lines of the lane I was in so as to keep me centered in my lane. When ever I used my blinker to change lanes or whenever I drove through an intersection, the car did not find the lanes again for an unacceptable period of time. This was not the case with my 2020 Altima. I went to the service department and was told that Nissan was not going to have a fix and is not working on a fix. This being the last year of making Altimas, I was not surprised. The camera systems (the optics) directs all the safety features. With such a poor operation of the optics, I am concerned for my safety. I do not recommend this car.

2019 Nissan Altima S

I bought this car new and have maintained it well. The dealer found a leak in the AC and replaced it under warranty. The same part failed again. They replaced it again under warranty. It never stopped blowing cold so I did not take it in for that. It is a refrigerator now. I liked the 2.5L engine without a turbo. It is plenty fast enough. The car handles very well. The gas mileage average has been 34.5 mpg for the life of the car. I bought a white one because it has to sit outside in Miami weather. The paint looks great and so does the interior.

I love this car!
Pros

sporty but lots of room!

Cons

low seating for short people

It is sporty. I traded in a Subaru Outback (2022) for it -same year model. I dispised the Subaru and all it's annoying features. This car can have the "safety" features turned off. It doesn't have the auto-shutoff , which is an extremely annoying feature that wore out my previous car's battery in just 2 years. If you stray from your lane, it has a gentle vibration on the steering wheel to alert you- not an annoying beep and wheel jerk. This car has great pickup when needed. It detects vehicles in your blind spot and has a light on the side mirror when there's someone there, or a gentle chime if you try to switch lanes when someone's there. The backup camera sees all round where you can't , when backing up. I like having actual knobs for the climate control- so i don't have to take my eyes off the road to adjust things. The phone bluetooth and maps are perfect for my tastes, I can see the google maps from my phone, plus other apps (like music) and use the touch screen to access them. The talk to text is great when responding while driving. The only things I would change about the car are: I am short, and the seat doesn't go up quite high enough for me. ( I am using a cushion, which is beneficial). The cup holder doesn't hold anything tall at all, so I am getting a cup adapter for the water bottles that i frequently use. That's it. I love everything else.

Actually love
nissan altima 2026 Image - 48737744

Some cars are just transportation. This one? This one gets me. The ’22 Altima SV is the perfect mix of grown, capable, and quietly hot. It doesn’t scream for attention—but if you know, you know.

Don’t buy this car
Pros

Comfortable ride and decent looks

Cons

Terrible car definitely don’t get

If you’re in the market for a reliable car definitely run from this car as fast as you can. This model costs too much for features that are not even that cool and the maintenance on this car gets expensive at times. Also the resale value on this car after a little while of having it is really bad you lose a good amount of value when you trade in a piece of junk like an altima

Pros

NEVER BREAKS DOWN

Cons

Uhhhhh

I bought a 2022 Nissan Altima brand new two years ago. I am a full-time Lyft driver and today I have 195,000 miles on my Nissan Altima! My car has never been in a mechanic shop! They won’t even service my transmission because they can’t figure out why I don’t have problems with it🤣. So Nissan in Rockwall said just keep driving it easy. And we think you gonna be OK.🤣 best car I ever had! And I’m going to buy another one as soon as this one gives out🤣. However, it still runs like a brand new car.🤾🏾‍♂️ so I’m gonna keep making me some money!
