Positive Review
I have a new, just out of the showroom, 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander ES AWC. It's a great car in a lot of areas just as your own KBB reviewer stated in his extensive review. I agree with everything he pointed out about this newly redesigned car from Mitsubishi. But, as an owner, I came across one really concerning problem right after I took possession. With highway speeds the front hood violently lifts and flexes from the wind. When it first happened I thought the hood wasn't closed properly. I pulled off the highway to check it out but it was tightly closed. It really felt like the hood was going to fly up while I was driving. I guess that's not going to happen because this 'newly redesigned' vehicle must have been wind tunnel tested, right? I don't know what the problem is, but I do know it's mighty distracting driving down the road watching the hood of your car jumping up and down. I've been in touch with Mitsubishi and they are 'working on a fix'. If you don't drive at highway speeds and you live where the wind never exceeds 15 miles per hour you'll be in love with this car. As for me, I live in a windy area and drive the 75 mph interstate every time I leave the house. I'll be in a love/hate relationship with my Mitsu until a recall comes through.

I've had a lot of vehicles, unfortunately, but the outlander phez SE is a top notch hybrid suv for the price. Seat comfort is plush and very comfortable, feels like a lazy boy. Acceleration is more than enough for an suv, it's not a sports car. Audio sound is very nice better than average. Dash display is appealing and attractive. The exterior of the car looks great, smooth lines and stylish. Overall space inside is more than enough. Third row seating is a slight bust but good for kids. I can't say enough about this vehicle when you see what you get for the price and all the standard features. The toyota rav4 with the same features as the outlander hybrid se was about $50000.00 plus where the outlander was at $46000. I love this car and if your in the suv market I would at least give this vehicle a look before purchasing something else.
Comfortable ride

5 months owner, 17000 miles. I drive quite a bit for work, around 40-45k a year. MPG avg 31.5. So far only a couple issues. 1) cracked windshield after 2 weeks of ownership, there are many people complaining on Reddit about this issue during hot weather. Mitsubishi won’t replace it in warranty. 2) a few bugs in the in screen system, rarely it freezes or it reboots and sometimes the volume has an issue were it doesn’t allow you to lower the volume. There is a recall for the backup camera, hopefully they fix all these issues. Otherwise Im very happy with my purchase, my goal is to reach 300k miles. Change oil every 5k with synthetic and replace the transmission oil every 30k.
Bought a 2024 Outlander SE with the tech package, which is all the warning/ safety systems, the sun roof and Bose stero among other things. The 181 horse power, 181 ft lb tourgue standard motor doesn't set the world on fire, but does a very decent job. Mileage averages have been 24 to 28 in town and 27 to 31 on the highway. I now have about 8500 miles on it and have been impressed, especially seeing that I got into this vehicle 6 to 10 thousand dollars cheaper than comparable equipped brands of the same size , like Sportage, Tuscon, etc.
Looks, all of the features available, ride handling and comfort, best price for a 7 seater. Decent MPG
Seat heaters are minimal at best, all storage areas have been downsized so minimal storage areas as well.
I bought this on June 28, 2025. First it’s just a beautiful looking vehicle. It has a lot of great features, handles great and is a smooth ride. My previous vehicle was a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander and they’ve made a few changes that I didn’t like but are more in line with other manufacturers. The downsized the size of the glovebox, the center console and the back corner pockets which I don’t like because there’s no room to store anything.
Styling, Room, Value, Sound System, Warranty
NONE
After looking at and driving the new Equinox, Bronco Sport, and Hyundai Santa Fe this Outlander by far blew every one of them away. It’s by far more stylish, more comfortable, a better value and the ride quality is amazing. We got the SE with 20 inch wheels in Red Diamond with Grey leather interior and it’s been one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. If you are in the market for a new SUV just got drive one and compare the warranty and what you get for the money.
I love my outlander, after 3 years and 40k miles on it i cant be happier with my purchase haven't done anything but service and still feels like brand new never thought id own a mitsu but the looks of the car and interior sold me.
I really wanted to like this Mitsubishi. Unfortunately, there are so many flaws in this vehicle it makes it a complete flop unless you have a small family living in a warm urban area and don’t travel more than 20 miles a day. let me be specific about my complaints - 1. The connectivity, which is a large portion of their software pkg is horrible. It can never find your car. It will never connect to your car to start it to lock it , to give you your info, etc. it is just that the telemetry is horrible. 2, the heater does not work whatsoever in cold weather, only when using the petrol engine function can you get some sort of warm air eventually, but it will take a while. 3. Battery - If if if it can be used ( YES - they shutoff your EV, charging and save mode when it’s cold) is only 30% despite getting a full charge. Research why Mitsubishi Canada is being sued, Mits did not insulate the battery or offer any remedy so its useless in cold weather. 3. All cruise control is disabled in the cold. Your car may not have one speck of snow, rain, ice on it and the road is dry/clear but you cannot use cruise control at all. I can understand disabling a lot of the adapted cruise control functions like the steering lane control, the following distance of the car in front of you, etc. but to not have the option to just use regular old standard transmission cruise control when needed is abysmal. 4. No CHademo adapter - good luck finding charging stations. 5. Car locks itself after 30 seconds with key inside, using second keyfob is useless - must use 2nd key mechanical key to open. 6. Door panels, like much of the interior, is plasticky and flimsy. When you close the door, it feels like the panel will come off. 7. Squirrelly as heck on snow, the rear drive with alleged saw is a joke - car is all over the place and I won’t take it on any slick roads, my E-bike performs better. 8. Suspension is stiff for what is supposed to be an upscale suv/wagon, not smooth/pleasant at all. 9. Audio system is buggy and weak, if your kids are making any noise, you can’t hear the music- very weak power. I’ll stop here. There are many more minor things that I could ramble on about but let me tell you this, it’s is my third Mitsubishi. I’m an early adopter, Japanese person, who really wanted to support them but they absolutely missed the mark and are so extremely overpriced for this vehicle I couldn’t urge you to avoid it enough unless you: live in the south, need a third row and don’t commute more than 20 miles to use its EV function. I have three vehicles, I’m a “car guy” and this is by far one of the worst vehicles I’ve ever driven and I really wanted to like it. I am glad I only leased it for two years, it is 23 months too long for me. So many better PHEV’s on the market that are a much better value
The vehicle had a 2-year free subscription for a remote-starting app. After two years, you have to purchase the subscription in order to start the vehicle remotely. No other options. I find that unacceptable.
