Positive Review
I bought this 1993 Mitsubishi Galant new in Dec. 1992 and have owned it since. This is the best of the nine cars I have owned in the past 48 years. It has been remarkably reliable. In 22 years of ownership, I've made a few repairs (front axles and front end parts), but they are few in comparison to most of the other cars I have owned. It currently leaks a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so. Other than that, it drives as well as it did when I bought it. It's tight, with no rattles or squeaks, it handles very well, and the engine has as much power as when I bought it. It still gets 35 mpg on the highway.

Fast, 4 door
Dents from walnuts
Fast VR4 only 800 made
outstanding reliability
modest power
This will supplement my previous review. It remains the best of all the cars I've owned in 49 years. It leaked oil for a while, but I had that fixed (gasket replaced and new oil pan -- the drain plug wouldn't seal). It burns about half a quart of oil every 5000 miles. Still has the original exhaust system! Still have the original clutch, with no sign of problems. I've had to replace the alternator twice (beware reconditioned ones). There is zero rust on the car. The paint has deteroriated on top -- the car didn't have a garage for its first 13 years -- but otherwise the paint has been outstanding. The air conditioner still works really well. The only annoying problem has been the drivers side sun visor, which no loner stays up as it should -- a minor problem, but difficult to solve, since a new one is ridiculously expensive. All in all, this has been and remains an amazing car considering that it is over 22 years old. Reliability is my number one in a car, and this car has had it in spades.
excellent value; very reliable; excellent handling
It's basic transportation -- no high luxury here.

Bought this car new in 1992. It has taken care of me and I have taken care of it ever since. Every 3-4 months oil changes from the beginning. Some minor rusting at bottom of driver's door but other than that, its still a beauty!
This was my first car and it was great! It was always reliable. It was actually my first and second car, the first one i had in high school but my sister crashed it. i bought the second one shortly after i started college. -I first one i had in 2003-2005 and it had about 175,000 miles on it before it was crashed. -And the second on I had from 2006-2011 and it had 150,000 mile They both had very minor rusting under the driver side door. This is a very reliable car, and with the power seat belts it makes it safe.
92' galant vr4 #898 of 1000, i live in Alaska so reliability is kinda a must. don't get me wrong this is a awesome car. but it has had more than a few issue's. i bought it for $900 with a blown head gasket and 123000 miles on the odometer. since then i have replaced the transmission, (shifter arm broke and fried the sycros) blew the head gasket twice. (do not use stock gasket. i recommend spending the extra $50 and getting a MLS 'multi layer steel' gasket) i also stripped the teeth off of a timing belt and bent all the valves. and then about 6 month's later i broke a timing belt in half. ( no idea how i did it) and bent the valves again. i have since replaced the stock belt with a GATES RACING belt. and it has been holding up just fine. i did have to replace the ECU about a year ago (very common problem on these cars) and i never have gotten the car to idle right. but all in all... this is a nice looking car, could use a cupholder though, the performance is good, the awd is very nice in the winter and on dirt roads, the handling isn't the greatest but adding a low profile set of tires (Fusion ZR1) makes a huge difference. and as far as relibility goes, dad's i have to be honest i would not recommend letting your wife or daughter drive this across the country. don't get me wrong i love this car, and its probly just mine i know there is always one bad apple in a basket. but it has not yet proven itself yet, but the alternator hasn't given out or anything else like that, just been internal engine problems. if you can overcome ( or just plain avoid) those problems, you have a pretty nice looking solid car. which is like any other car, you take care of it, and it will take care of you. and just a side note... yes i have a heavy foot, but i'm just the guy that likes to see how fast he can get to 100mph when the highway is clear, and i stay away from redline, i know my cars limits and i don't abuse it. i have done all the work to it myself and have changed the oil and filter every 3000miles. i hope this review helps someone out, i know that nobody reviews this car because of how rare it is. and i hope someone benefits from this. odometer currently at 141000miles
Great roadability; good turning radius; Adequate power for a four-cylinder car. Smooth auto shifting; good braking.
