We have owned our Mountaineer for several years and we love it. This is our second mountaineer. The only drawback: It's a little spendy! Comfort, Style, decent mpg (18) Heated seats that I couldn't get along without. We tow our boat, or our ATV trailer, so we have the V8. We love the option of the 3rd row seating when the kids fly into town. We move around so AWD keeps us prepared for anything. The base Commander (over 6 ft) fits into the 3rd row seats where other SUVs in this catagory would not allow him to feel very comfortable. Excellent leg room, great sound system and we feel SAFE. We Love Ours.

"MOUNTAINEER"
THIS CAR GIVES YOU AN AWESOME RIDE...IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND YOU FEEL LIKE ROYALTY DRIVING.
EXCEPT, YOU NEED TO BE JZ AND BEYONCE TO AFFORD TO FILL THIS TANK UP EVERY OTHER DAY IN THE CITY. THIS CAR ABSOLUTELY STINKS ON GAS! I AM PAYING ALMOST $180.00 A WEEK IN GAS...
ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD IT IS CASH OUT OF YOUR POCKET!!!!

Mercury Mountaineer
Pros
Gas mileage
Cons
Power and towing capabilities
I love mine been very dependable and I always has the towing power to pull anything I've put against it the only thing I don't like is the electric seats if the motors wear out which they typically do its been difficult to find used parts but I will continue to drive and pull as long as it treats me as it has for past 4 yrs considering I've only put 12k miles on it its always there when I need it and paid for itself over and over again and still daily driver

Pros
Handles and Rides suprizingly well...
Cons
Visability when hitchin up! Gotta open back to see
Smooth, quiet, comfortable, **Reliable** suburb/semi-rural utility vehicle -a nice, handy to have around, especially with OEM tow package! No probs so far, earns it's keep per convenience when needed. More than good nuff for town or country.
It's not a daily dirver for us, but sure is handy when needed...
I like it! Seems to have potential to last a Loooong time...

I have owed my 2008 Mercury Mountaineer since 2015 love the vehicle from looks to ride to handling. Great Gas Mileage in town about 15 mpg has the V6 in it. Has great ride handling leg room mine its Black with Tan Leather.
If some one is looking for nice SUV would advise to take a look at Mercury Mountaineer.

100,000+ and just bought new tires
Pros
Great in bad weather. Easily tows our boat. Safe
Cons
Gas hog. Loud.
Our 2004 mountaineer was the best car we ever owned. The 2008 mountaineer is a close second. Spark plugs are the only major problem. Several broke when trying to remove for first time. Since then 7th and 8th cylinders have failed twice. Pretty loud exhaust leak, but seals up after the engine gets warm. Hope to keep "forever."
