Review Summary

AI summary of user-generated reviews for this vehicle
Customers praise the exceptionally smooth, quiet ride and luxurious interior with heated, ventilated seats and high-end materials. Many commend the powerful engine, responsive acceleration, and advanced driver assistance systems. However, a substantial group reports persistent quality issues including rear noises, squeaky brakes, dashboard rattles, malfunctioning rear cameras, and electrical faults that dealers dismiss as normal. Some criticize the high price relative to reliability concerns and note maintenance costs exceed competitors. Despite strong positives in comfort and performance, recurring defects significantly undermine satisfaction for many owners.

"The GLE is very impressive"

Have only about 1000 miles on my GLE 350. The interior is best in class, exterior is conservative however tasteful unlike the Lexus RX , which IMHO is drastic and has become boring. The 350 is not quick from a dead stop, in all other situations power is more than adequate. Cruising at 90mph is effortless and extremely comfortable. Problems I’ve encountered thus far is an inconsistent whistling sound from driver’s side mirror, gas tank filler door is not perfectly flush with body. Both are items I have chosen to just live with for now. The 450 is probably better suited for this vehicle, however it is about $6k more and for 95% of all driving situations is realistically not needed. Tested the Lexus RX as well as the BMW X5 , eliminated the RX rather quickly, and the X5 just seemed to be a generation behind, however a great vehicle. There are many posts talking about problems with the GLE and how Mercedes has come down in quality, I hope that it is not true. I’ve had 2 BMWs and 5 Mercedes and quality has not been an issue with any of them. Most owners would not bother posting anything if there were no problems, therefore we are overwhelmingly reading the posts of individuals experiencing some issues, however minor they may be. I love driving my GLE 350, and I have zero second thoughts regarding my decision.

"Uncomfortable seat and not quality control"

I purchased a GLE 450 2020 for my wife in April 2019 and now it has 6000 mileage. This is our first Mercedes that we have owned. Mercedes Benz disappointed me a lot!!!! First day after I purchased our Mercedes, when I was drive my wife GLE 450 2020 from Mercedes dealer to home I heard wind sound from rear of the car!!! I asked dealership about wind sound and they noticed me that rear driver side door doesn't have trim around door and door is not seal!!!! They ordered trim from Germany and after 1 month!!! they installed trim!!! After 3 months of purchased date I got a letter from Mercedes Benz and they announced me there is a hole in floor of all GLE 2020 and I needed to take my GLE to Mercedes dealership to fix it!!! I took my car to Mercedes dealership after 1 week they order part and they started to fix floor hole and I am still waiting dealership deliver my car next week!!! I bought this GLE for my wife and she doesn't have complain about seat, but I am a regular person (almost skinny person) with 5 ft and 8 inch height and 160 pounds weight. I don't feel comfortable with seat when I driving this 2020 GLE at all. Unfortunately I think seat is very uncomfortable. I have owned several cars in my life. Seat is luxury and beautiful with a lot of features, but not comfortable at all. Mercedes I am very disappointed of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never buy another Mercedes.

I love my GLE 2022

It has the most elegant and updated dashboard in all the industry IMHO. It takes a bit to figure out the dashboard, but one you do its intuitive. The change of lights for night tie driving on the interior as really cool. The heated and cooled seats are such a nice option. The back set is roomy and very comfortable. The back trunk/hatch has a smooth open and you can adjust it. I have put new tires and brakes on this year, and have had regular maintenance, and a few minor things that need fixing. The service at Mercedes in unparallelled to other dealerships. You might pay a bit more, but I find it worth it. I only wish it was a bit lower so getting inis easier, but I rather go high and dip my but low into a car. Why would I sell, as I only get half price at this point what I paid for it, and it will last a long time.

2024 GLE 350 flawless at 38,000 miles
Pros

Refined, quiet when equipped with 20 in rims. Best used on long trips vs city drive cycle.

Cons

Not as much fun to drive as BMW X5 or Audi Q7.

This is our second GLE 350 and post. I read the 2024 GLE 350 is considered above average in reliability. At 38,000 miles we experienced no repairs. We achieve 32mpg at 68 mph in favorable wind conditions. Overall MPG is 28 which includes infrequent suburban driving. This GLE is a truck and not a crossover like the Audi Q7. The Audi is more fun to drive but not as fuel efficient. Don’t recommend a Q7 due to high reported MX issues with water pumps. We owned a 2023 BMW X5 for 3 weeks. Its 6 cyl is super and car more fun to drive than GLE. But, seats and ride too hard for 70 year olds. The GLE becomes the car of choice. Everything works well such as heat and air, low NVH, and smooth drivetrain. It is a truck however.

Mercedes Benz CLE 300 AMG

Disappointed in the car overall. Blind spots. Tires are always low. Driver's display is out at 1,900 miles...do I need to say more. I have been driving a Mercedes since 2000...and just find this overpriced and poor quality.

Electronic nightmare

My wife enjoys the car, until all the warning lights come on sitting at a red light. Why can’t a car just be a great car anymore?

Annoying Camera noise! Be warned

Usually when you think of Mercedes Benz you think quality comfort and stylish. Just purchased my wife a 2026 Mercedes GLE 350. After a few days we noticed a noise from the rear of the vehicle. At first we thought it was something in the rear loose under where the spare tire is. Eventually we found out it is the rear camera opening up at slower speeds. The camera turns on to look for parking spots and to help stop the vehicle in an emergency. The NOISE is UNACCEPTABLE! Whomever was the genius to think this was a good idea should be fired! The sound is very annoying. Why spend 70,000 and have to live with that annoying sound? Didn’t Mercedes think hey this may kill our sales and give us bad reviews ? Never again will I buy a Mercedes. Should have stayed with the AUDI Q7.

Noise coming from Differential
Pros

Shape

Cons

Week Engine

I purchased a GLE 350 in 2023, and from day one the vehicle has had a noise coming from the differential. I was initially told it was minor, and at one point last year I was informed that the differential had been replaced. However, the noise never went away. I recently brought the car back again and was told that this is a common issue with this model and that nothing further can be done, and I was advised to contact Mercedes directly through their 800 number. I purchased a premium vehicle, yet the driving experience is worse than that of much more basic cars.
