"Form, Fit, Function & Value Boxes All Checked"

Mercedes - Benz nailed the 2021 total redesign of this compact SUV. Trade reviews consistently placed this new model ahead of the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40 in style, performance and comfort. The 4 cylinder turbo charged engine delivers excellent responsiveness without excessive fuel consumption. Cabin is spacious, controls are logical and the MBUX system is state of the art and packed with features. Added the premium package, heated seats, panoramic roof and garage door opener options to the base GLA 250 4Matic adding about $4K to the cost. Difficult to find this model with a reasonable blend of options as dealer inventory tends be either base or fully loaded models.

My favorite car so far
Pros

looks, interior styling and comfort, technology, pick up and go, foldable mirrors, app control, handling

Cons

sensitive brakes, mercedes are all expensive to maintain, the matte paint can't be taken through the car wash so it's high maintenance and hand-wash only

I've owned it for a few weeks, so take this review how you will. I purchased a 2021 GLA 4matic with the matte gray paint. It's a beautiful vehicle, ivory interior, a panoramic roof and I actually prefer the track pad next to the center console over the 2025 version. Personally, I love having buttons and a more tactile experience, but everyone is different. The car drives well, though it's got a sensitive brake and I'm getting used to that. The most dangerous design "flaw" this vehicle has is the gear shift. It's in the exact same location and looks exactly like my windshield wipers on the Subaru I drove before this vehicle. I'm pretty paranoid about accidentally putting my car in neutral while driving down the highway when the rain starts... but I think it's worth it. I just have to be mindful and get used to the change, but I love this car so much. I'm a small woman, 5'2", and I have a hard time seeing out of certain vehicles. I can see really well with minimal blind spots in this vehicle. It's got great visibility and maneuverability. I easily get in and out of the vehicle and I just love all the luxurious upgrades that my subaru did not have. I love the seats, the lights, the tech, the way it handles, I love the whole thing. I'm really proud of this vehicle and I'm really looking forward to driving it for the next 7 or 8 years hopefully.

It’s everything I want in a vehicle
Pros

Luxurious interior, cool tech, Mercedes assistant, interior lighting, paint, driving is fun

Cons

The gear shift in the place a lot of windshield wipers are, the paint has to be hand washed

Now I just purchased this, so there hasn’t been much time for things to go wrong but I’ll tell you why I bought it. First, price point couldn’t be beat for a luxury vehicle. I got my GLA for under $30k and right at 30k miles. Mine came with a special matte metallic paint that made it unique and is also a 4matic. I came from a Subaru forester and appreciate the visibility that vehicle gave me. The GLA has similar visibility. Great windows and no glaring blind spots. The brake is sensitive and I’m still learning to not stomp on the pedal. The only thing that I’d love to change about this car is the gear shift. It’s exactly where the windshield wiper controls were on my last vehicle. Not ideal. I’m actually terrified I might put my car in neutral while going 60 on the highway in the rain. It’s something I’ve got to be really careful about. The interior is gorgeous, as you’d expect from Mercedes. Mine is a tan leather interior with black accents. It’s got really cool tech inside and customizable wrap around screens. Can’t be beat for the price. I’m in love.

Exellent Small SUV with Prestige
Pros

Beautiful design. Very comfortable. Gas mileage

Cons

Visor won't slide.

I've had my car for nearly four years and have truly enjoyed it the entire time. It's been half-way across the country and back, twice. It's very comfortable to drive in the city and I love the short wheelbase for U-turns in the street. Self-parking is an amazing feature, and so easy to use. The digital dashboard is intuitive can the car paired very easily with my iPhone(s). If I had to pick a single issue I don't like it's that the driver visor doesn't extend when I have it on the side window. That's a pretty small item in the whole package.

My new suv
Pros

Infotainment center, fun to drive,

Cons

Premium packages can get pricey

Compact, spacious inside with the higher roof line. Comfortable and quiet. The the premium package makes this thing is like a hot rod, luxery spaceship. It’s peppy fun to drive.

Pros

Research the segment and then buy this one.

Cons

Slightly less cargo space than competitors.
