Latest Maserati Recalls

Provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Potential Number of Units Affected 125

Summary

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2021 Quattroporte Trofeo and Ghibli Trofeo vehicles equipped with optional 21-inch tires. The tire placard may have incorrect tire pressure information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.” Tires that are inflated to the incorrect pressure could lead to a loss of vehicle stability and control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the placard and update the tire pressure monitoring system, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 17, 2021. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati’s number for this recall is 432.

Maserati Recall History

Maserati vehicles over the past few years have been recalled over fire risks in seats and fuel lines, plus confusing gear shifters that drivers thought were in park, but were still in drive.

In 2017, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV called back 39,381 2014-17 Quattroporte luxury cars and Ghibli sports sedans and 2017 Levante SUVs for fire risk. Adjusting the front seats in these vehicles can lead to the seat wiring harness rubbing and possibly creating an electrical short. Dealers will inspect and replace the seat wiring harnesses, if necessary. Fiat Chrysler said the recall completion rate is 76.8 percent as of June 2018.

Also in 2017, FCA recalled 10,879 2014-15 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles over leaky fuel lines that also pose a fire risk. The fix is a new fuel line. The recall completion rate for that recall is 77.7 percent as of June 2018, FCA says.

It’s typical that about 25 percent of all automotive recalls aren’t completed, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In the company 2016 called back 26,464 2014-16 Quattroporte and Ghibli cars over a bolt that may not have been properly tightened in the rear tie-rod to hub assembly. The remedy is dealer inspection and replacing the rear tie-rod to hub assembly if needed.

The completion rate for that recall is 85.5 percent as of June 2018, FCA says.

Another 2016 recall covered 28,235 2014-16 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles for

driver-side floor mat anchors that can break, which could cause the floor mat to move under the accelerator and carpet. Dealers are replacing the floor mat and if needed the accelerator pedal cover. That recall as of June 2018 has a completion rate of 87.3 percent.

Also in 2016, FCA recalled about 13,000 2014 Ghibli and Quattroporte vehicles with 8-speed automatic transmissions and a monostable gear selector. Drivers may think the vehicle is in park with the gear shift lever when it is another gear. If they exit the vehicle, without being in park, it could cause serious injury. A software update is the remedy. The recall completion rate for this recall is 77.3 percent as of June 2018.
