Positive Review
I fell in love with it when I seen it! Super stylish and rugged! It has been good to me; getting me where I need to go and safely! I feel in control of the road! Keep the maintenance up, and all is good! Repairs are alittel high, but, replaced parts last! Love my truck!
Critical Review
I have owned 11 Land Rover Discovery's comprising of both series I and II. To be honest with you I try to let them go, but I always find myself buying one again. The fun and sense of adventure cant be beat. Along with the unique styling and looks makes it hard to not truly love this vehicle. Sure it has its quirks, but for me its like Starbucks on a Sunday Morning, Unless you regularly experience it, you will never understand. By the way, the fact that it is a 1998 50th year anniversary edition with the chrome bumpers ,only ads the icing to this very sweet cake!

Smooth ride, differential lock, beautiful
Gas mileage and electrical issues such as windows and seats
I recently acquired a 99 Disco 2 and fell in love with it. It was a 1 owner with 165,000 miles. Drives like a dream and the differential lock will ensure you get anywhere. It’s rust free with no issues besides needing brakes, it needs all 4 calipers so that’s setting me back about $500 for a brake job. They’re expensive to fix but I love the refinement of the vehicle. It’s a beautiful vehicle and everything works. These are known to have electrical issues with the seats and windows but other than that regular maintenance is a plus. I trade about once a month but might have to keep this one. I like it that much. You sit up high with high visibility and it’s so smooth on the road. I love how it looks and feels on the road. It gets compliments all the time.
I really want this car to trade in my toyota highlander 2005 but I live at Mankato in Minnesota if anything helps I put my email under there please email me the car I have very good work and I’m really interested this car to trade in the reason I’m trading is I have been had this car and using for to long haven’t had a problem with it.
Fun to drive, feels secure, ability to offroad!

I've been able to go just about anywhere I'd want, its a beast ♡ the gas mileage sucks. It may take some work but it's worth it!
Perfect Road Trip Vehicle
Gas Mileage
I purchased my LR certified pre-owned in California in 2000. It has been a love affair since. We have taken it everywhere we go for long distance road trips. I love that it's so utilitarian. This car has moved around from California to Washington and now Hawaii. This car had some major mechanical work done but overall my Disco has never left me stranded. I love that I can managed the muddy construction site at my rail project. It is such a perfect car to transport your four-legged furry friends. My dogs are so well-behaved and relaxed while seated in the backseats because they could see everything from the rear seats. I'm very sad that I will be leaving it here Hawaii when I move back to the Mainland. I will miss the open road viewing -- all the big windows and the multiple sunroofs. My tearing just thinking about it.
Got Blue in '97. My mechanic is amazed at how little repairs she has needed and none major. Low mileage because of the worst kind of driving (short distance work commute). Now I'm retired and can see her with rod holders on The Point on the Outer Banks. See the new ones and say, "What is that"? No style, no defining looks. Just an old motor head who will keep the stagecoach until one of us goes.
Body perfect, no dents or dings, Engine runs strong, no issues. Power steering fluid reservoir needs replacing, Front bumper needs replacing.
luxurious, off roading
SUV mileage
I picked up my discovery fairly cheap after Hurricane Sandy decimated the Jersey Shore. I live in a shore town, and picked this up for a couple hundred after it was drowned by the hurricane. Despite its age, having over 100k miles, and being hit and sunk by a hurricane, the car has been flawless. After doing basic maintenance that anyone should do when getting a used auto (change all fluid/belts and filters and plugs) the only thing to go wrong in two years of daily driving has been the water pump. That's also maintenance though. Let's talk performance. This is an off roading monster. No stock setup can beat this, maybe the 100k Mercedes G wagon. It's not particularly fast, but it can get out of its own way and has no problem doing highway speeds. Fuel consumption is high which was to be expected. With its torque filled v8 and locking centre differential, I'm always pulling out over ambitious jeep owners from the mud. The wheel articulation is also the best I've seen in any stock setup. This truck was designed and made to go through the roughest desert, and the toughest jungle after all. Speaking of design, the truck looks incredible. It's just a tough, go anywhere looking vehicle. Interior is also great, it has a utilitarian look but still has dual zone climate control with heated seats and room to fit 7 people. The raised rear roof makes it a dream to transport large objects, and did I mention the 4 Sun roofs? All in all, I wish everyone could own a discovery at least once in their lives.
lots of fun, nice interior, great extreme driving
spare access requires two people
We bought this car and did a lot of extreme driving, the best car for off-roading! Although it spends most of its time running errands now, I still love this car. We've had the opportunity to sell many times over the years and it's tough to let go of-too much potential for fun. I have found that now that this car is far from it's warranty, we have very good repair experiences with local mechanics. A trip to the dealership will result in repairs that are too steep! Keep with a mechanic you trust and you'll do just fine. Also the 800# at Land Rover is very responsive. Ours has not had major issues, but even the routine fixes have been very reasonable.
