"Perfect vehicle for all purposes."

Great advanced technology creates a safe reliable ride. This SX model has more safety features than my 2020 E class Benz at half the price. The handling on city roads is tight and comfortable. On the Highway it performs very well, with responding to pass other vehicles and maintains a steady cruise speed without searching gears constantly like other SUV’s I have owned.

Critical Review

"DON'T BUY!!"

Terrible vehicle! Check engine light keeps coming on. Stranded us by the side of the road when battery died and didn't kick over to hybrid. They don't have all the kinks worked out in their plug in hybrids yet. We've had it in the shop 8 times in 6 months. Last time they had it for TWO WEEKS. KIA has been rude to deal with. Buy a Honda or Toyota. Buying this car was the WORST CAR BUYING MISTAKE I've made in my life!!!!!

Little Annoyances

Have had vehicle for a week now. Been driving a Buick Encore Gx for the last 5 years. Needed more cargo space. Doors on the Kia dont close easily- really have to slam shut. When changing volume on radio, fingers get near auto climate control switch and climate system turns on. Last media used does not return with next start up. Was told vehicle has own wifi- apparently it does not.. Not as quiet or smooth on the highway as hoped. Not as noticeable in town. Grand kids love the extra rear seat room. No warning lights on, and every thing seems to work. MPG for the week was 29 with one longer highway trip. Hopefully I will get used to the vehicle soon

It's a Dream SUV for me

Pros

Cargo Space, Passenger Comfort, Exterior, Wheel Feel

Cons

Price, Others To Be Determined...

So I was overcharged at the Dealership although this ended up being a dream SUV for me. So I really wanted the black accents on an SUV such as on the grill and wheels. And with the X-Line, I was able to get them. I also got a premium color, the Wolf Grey, and the Terracotta interior which really sold me. I tested out the Bronco Sport and the Mazda CX-5, although the Sportage had the best wheel feel and turn feel for me. For both of the others, I felt it was harder to turn the vehicle and both of the others felt a bit too wide for me, and not the best room in the back for passengers. The Sportage had great room in the cargo space and the best leg room for passengers. My suggestion is narrow what you want down to 3 vehicles, and then go from there. See what it is like driving them, what kind of aesthetics do you want, and what your price point is going to be. That will help you make your decision. And make sure to get the Out-the-Door price before you sign anything!

Don’t buy.

I thought this was a great car for the first year but have had multiple problems now with it. It has broken down while driving and now won’t start. The check engine light pops on and the car shuts down when anything it cause the check engine light to come on. Very disappointed with this purchase.

I really like it

I haven't had any issues so far with my standard 2025 Kia Sportage X Pro. I'm loving all the tech. I have had it for about 10 months now. Put almost 7k miles on it.

Too much tech, too many difficulties
Cons

Different check engine lights on all the time. Bad gas mileage. Windshield cracked with no flection point.

My first month of having the car my battery died and because the car has the automatic shut off, when my car shut off it wouldn’t restart when I went to press the gas. So my brand new car had to be towed out of the car pick up like at school. Second issue- have had the cylinder 2 misfire engine light is on. Now when I have low gas, my car doesn’t even want to start!! I tried taking it to Kia but they wants to keep the car for weeks to fix it. There is no pick up in this car. Struggles to accelerate. And frankly all the technology doesn’t work together. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! Buy a Toyota

Good with quirks
Pros

Fuel mileage, comfort, acceleration, value

Cons

Infotainment system, cheap quality door trim

The only things I don’t like are: 1. The infotainment system is the worst tech I’ve ever used. For example, with the GPS if you accidentally touch the map while navigating it drops a pin and there’s no way to go back without stopping your route and starting over. Kia needs to start over or just drop an iPad in the dash. 2. The door trim rattles after only a few months. It gets worse when the radio is on due to extra vibration. Really disappointing and I know it can’t be fixed. But that’s it. I love everything else about the car. It is fun to drive, gets 29+ miles per gallon, very comfortable for road trips, and an unbeatable price.

The Hybrid part is good; The Kia part is terrible

We’ve owned our Sportage HEV for 2 years. In that two years, we’ve had the car at the dealership several times for things that fall under warranty….but what fun is it to have the following replaced on a garage-kept, hand washed, meticulously maintained car: door handle replacement, headlight replacement, rear hatch lock replacement. Now that the car has 30K miles, it’s time for another headlight replacement, another door handle replacement and the turbo is malfunctioning. The dealership assures us that everything is fine but I will not be purchasing another Kia. We love the hybrid feature. We do not enjoy the lackluster sound system and terrible build quality. Eight trips to the shop to have things fixed in the first 2 years isn’t my idea of a good vehicle.

Great SUV in its class!
kia sportage-plug-in-hybrid 2026 Image - 44012485
Pros

Drives great, affordable, spacious, comfortable, amazing technology features, sleek design, warranties.

Cons

Slower acceleration with a 4 cylinder

I went from owning Toyotas for years to getting the 2025 KIA Sportage Ex and it’s amazing. It’s spacious, comfortable, sleek design, amazing technology, and drives great! The only this is the acceleration is a little slow, but I am not trying to go 0-60 in 5 seconds either. But it’s expected with a 4 Cylinder, the gas mileage is great too. You also can’t beat KIA’s warranties they offer. I will say KIA has stepped up there game and definitely improved over the years, and they have definitely outdid themselves with this model.
