Positive Review

"Fully electric"

Has more useable room and longer range than a tesla model 3 standard range plus. most of my driving is local and i have a 220 volt home charger which charges the car overnight. road trips up to 250 miles in the summer can be done without charging. winter range is less maybe 180. After tax credits, the Niro cost $ 30k it is comfortable and handles well, even in the winter with studded tires. Cost per mile is $ .045. it will be a while before the high speed changer network equals tesla's, but that will change. got to get off oil!!

Critical Review

"Lots of features you're gonna pay for."

We bought this car about a year ago and it's been a pleasure - until we went into the dealership for a service call at 7,500 miles. Then we learned the tech package "Ultimate" we had for the first year had been disconnected. No more remote start, no more remote door locks, unless we signed up for an annual contract that runs from $150 - 200 per year. After spending $40,000+ for this car we thought we were entitled to keep the features we bought.

No frills but more then happy
Pros

Price point, range, interior room

Cons

Lack in tech, lighting a bit dim, slower charging

I have been absolutely thrilled with my 2022 Kia Niro EV EX. It might not have all the frills, but I am still incredibly happy with it. It is a fantastic daily driver that perfectly balances efficiency, comfort, and practicality. The electric range is excellent and easily handles my daily commute with plenty of battery to spare. Inside, the cabin is surprisingly spacious and packed with great tech features that make every drive enjoyable. It is smooth, quiet, and incredibly reliable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a practical and fun electric vehicle!

Great car.

I have had the car about 2 years and almost 45,000 miles. Been in the shop for a brake fluid change and two recalls. Don't leave a door open. The computer runs on 12 volts and if that goes ... I think that is common from what I have read with most electric cars.

Happy with my purchase

I bought the base model 2020 Kia Niro BEV new in March 2021 and have been very happy with my purchase. I had a Level 2 charger installed in my garage, which makes charging the car extremely easy. I plug in the vehicle at 10 pm and 8-9 hours later it's fully charged. The car's perfect for city driving, but I don't recommend it for long distances since it takes 1 1/2 hours to fully charge the car at a public station; it's not a fast-charging car. Expect 200-220 miles range combined city/highway driving with a full charge. Strictly stop-and-go city driving should achieve 250 miles or higher in range. The base model comes with everything, so I don't recommend the top trim. It handles well except over bumps and potholes. The front driver's and passenger's seats, however, are very uncomfortable, and I am not impressed with the KIA Connect/Access app. My car has 30,000 miles on it and without any infotainment or mechanical issues. The car is definitely not worth $42,000, but it is worth considering if all the federal and state incentives apply.

Best Car I have owned
Pros

Value, Power, Reliability

Cons

Charge speed, Range is average at best.

This is a perfect electric car for first time EV buyers. It has great power, solid range for a full charger, and decent charge speeds. It took the Kia Niro from Atlanta to D.C. and back and had no problems. I've had my car for a little over a year and haven't regretted it even once. The infotainment isn't great, but I use Carplay, and it does Carplay well. The seats are comfortable, the ride is quiet, and the adaptive cruise control is something I won't do without for any future cars I buy. I can't recommend this car enough.

Great car great brand

Love my 2022 Kia Niro Hybrid gets great mileage more than enough pep. Got a cargo cover to hide what is in back. My 3rd. Kia not a problem on all 3. Storage batteries are warranty is 10 year 100k to original owner. Used to trade every other year but now retired. So will be keeping this on to about 90k, currently saving for next car. Try a Kia you will like it ! Eric from Lombard, IL

Great Electric Option
Pros

Great ride, excellent quality, low maintenance

Cons

Visibility in the back so-so, driver seat so-so

This was my first electric car. Consumer Reports rated this car at 88 so I decided that the car was worth the cost. It drives very smooth and has mostly intuitive dashboard although it was an adjustment, coming from driving a 2011 car with no fancy computer screen. It drives better than the Tesla (my opinion) due to a more forgiving ride. Tesla’s are notoriously stiff and choppy. The price was much lower than the Tesla as well, but more than Chevy Bolt or the Nissan version. I only plan to drive city, not much highway, so I believe this car will be a wonderful addition to our family. So far I have driven the car for 2-1/2 weeks and haven’t had to charge it yet.
