Positive Review

"Excellent Value"

This is hands down the best car I’ve owned. I know, it’s a Kia, but they have stepped up their game. I take this car on 5 hour road trips all the time. It charges in 18 minutes, enough time to eat a meal or stop and stretch. I have had zero issues with it. It’s comfortable, roomy and drives great. In the summer, the range is around 250 miles, winter drops to 200 miles, sub zero temperatures shorten the range to 150 miles. It also has physical buttons and controls for HVAC/radio and other options. The only downside in my opinion is the style. It’s too sporty for my taste, but that’s fine. I bought it for its range and charging speed.

Critical Review

"Mileage Sucks!!"

250 to 275 mileage on a full charge. Resale value is terrible. Over priced suv for what it is. Reliability is not that good because of the weather changes, it messes with the battery. Seats are a bit hard on road trips. Just a typical electric vehicle that is not worth buying.

A great EV

Pros

Great performer

Cons

Pricing is a bit too high.

We leased a 2024 Kia EV6 to give an electric car a try. I absolutely loved this car but when the lease ended I decided to turn it in because the residual value is too high. Could have been more reasonable I definitely would have purchased it. Car was comfortable and fun to drive, and the power was awesome. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to purchase an electric car. In my opinion comparing it to the Tesla, the EV6 is that much better by for several reasons like the enclosed class roof, the range and the styling. The interior of the EV6 is much nicer than any Tesla I've ever seen. And it has a speedometer that's in front of you not off to the right side.

If only the ICCU was better
Pros

Great handling, acceleration, exterior styling, and roominess

Cons

ICCU is a fatal flaw that Kia is ignoring. This will likely leave you stranded at some point. Stereo is unimpressive.

This vehicle could be great. It mostly is, but it has one fatal flaw. That flaw is the ICCU. To overly simplify things: the ICCU is the brains for managing your batteries. This part continuously fails on MANY EV6s, mine included. The ICCU has failed twice and the ICCU water pump has failed once. All on a car with under 55,000 miles. I've tried to work through Kia's customer care portal to come up with a solution, but they are AWFUL. I would highly, highly recommend avoiding anything KIA, as their customer service is the worst. If you're set on one of these cars you'll mostly be happy. I have been plenty happy with the interior. My only complaint would be the stereo. To say the least, it's lacking. Exterior styling is great. Acceleration is excellent, handling fantastic. Too bad the ICCUs are garbage. What a missed opportunity.

Garbage, do not buy!
kia ev6 2025 Image - 47987202
Pros

good design

Cons

raw techology and quality

The technology in this vehicle still feels like it is very much a work in progress, with significant reliability issues. My 2023 Kia EV has now lost power three separate times, creating a serious safety concern. The failures were unpredictable and left the vehicle unsafe to operate. The car is now out of Lemon Law, yet the problem remains unresolved. Kia has not identified the root cause and has not provided a permanent repair. Temporary checks and resets are not a solution when a vehicle repeatedly loses power. Customer service has been extremely poor. I contacted Kia multiple times by phone and direct messages, and there has been no meaningful action or resolution. The lack of accountability and urgency for a safety-related issue is deeply disappointing. Overall, this experience has left me with a very negative impression of both the vehicle and the company. I would strongly caution potential buyers: the technology may look appealing, but reliability and post-sale support are not where they need to be.

Disappointment

I had all the good intentions despite some of my car friends telling me not to buy a KIA. There are two main problems: one is reliability. Especially of the electrical system. I forgot the component that gets recalled in the electrical ,system but it seems to have an issue. Just about a week ago,, there is was this major electrical warning light that cam on in my car. I was really worried I was going to be stranded late at night. Thankfully it was not. This has to be second time I have to bring this in. The car is only two years old. Second are the dealerships. First, they don't have enough mechanics for the EVs; second, they do not automatically give a loaner car. They just don't know how to take care of individuals who spend money on cars. Not worth the price. Next time I am buying a Lexus.

The GT is a sleeper and a supercar

The AWD GT is a sleeper in Eco mode and a fire breathing monster in GT mode. Great driving experience… fun and fast paced it’s excellent handling when you want it and a more casual ride daily driving. The looks and styling of the car is a head turner. Interior upholstery and design is high quality and modern. The only major issue(s) I have had is with the electronics on the vehicle. The first generation seemed to be plagued with all kinds of odd electronic gremlins. I had an issue with the stereo that required three separate trips to the dealership where the wiring harness/electrical connections was looked at, the head unit was replaced and then ultimately the amplifier in the sound system was replaced. Even more frustrating because I had already researched the issue and found a TSB and told Matthews Kia this was likely the issue based on the problem I was hearing with the sound randomly switching from the front speakers to the rear. I had another issue with the ICCU needing to be recalled and the 12V battery not holding its charge and needing to be replaced.

ICCU Failure at 11,500 Miles
Pros

Comfortable car with good handling

Cons

ICCU Design Flaw, Excessive Time to Repair, Poor Range in Winter

I bought my 2023 Kia EV6 GT-LINE used in December 2024 and by February 2025, the ICCU died while I was driving. It took two months for Kia to get the part to the dealership to fix it. I am working on Kia buy back and will never get an electric vehicle from Kia again.
