Jeep is well known for off road capabilities and overall the patriot will do the job off road. I recently traded in my patriot for a wrangler. I liked driving my patriot and only had a complaint about the quality of certain things in the car such as the weather molding coming undone after 6 months. Little things like the radio would randomly act up and cause minor headaches. Although I generally liked my patriot the most alarming thing is how horribly these patriots hold their value. Upon wanting to trade I was told my Jeep had depreciated over $9,000 and had to trade in with negative equity. They had over 20 patriots on the lot and only 2 wranglers. Simply put I think if you can afford a little higher payment it is worth investing in a wrangler. The resale value stays extremely strong for wranglers and I personally just love owning a wrangler! Although the patriot makes a great family car for a cheaper initial price tag.
Critical Review
The Jeep Patriot offered exactly what I was looking for. Small SUV with Jeep Styling and reliability and at a good cost. I have a 2014 Patriot Limited, with about 40000 miles on it. At first everything was great, I loved all the features my limited had! The sunroof, sound system, leather was all awesome! Then things started to go downhill. This car has turned into a nightmare, it rattles at idle, my steering wheel shakes radically, air conditioning makes a horrible grinding noise, when I turn left the steering makes a horrible winding noise. When I brought it back to the dealership for service, I was basically I got what I paid for a cheap car and there was nothing they could do for me. For its size the gas mileage is really not that great either. I was never expecting this car to be the car of my dreams, however I also was not expecting it to be the car of my nightmares!!

It has been dependable, good on gas and comfortable. The A/C has to be turned down most all the time. The heat and air vents are placed better than any other car I have ever been in. Lots of cargo room. This is the 5 speed transmission and 2.0 litter engine and will burn rubber if you want it to. The paint is almost like new and parked for years in the Florida sun. The seats could be a more high end but they are comfortable enough, I won't sell this Patriot unless I win the Loto
Why don't you ask about mileage when estimating a cars value? My car is a 2016 in very good condition inside and out and only has 48,500+ miles on it. It's definitely worth more than 3 or 4 thousand dollars.
I am the original owner of a 2007 Jeep Patriot, and it is still running well without major issues. It has 260000 km on the clock, and I am keeping it as a second car. After the Patriot, I owned a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, which also had no issues. Now, I have a 2024 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon.
last of it kind in body styling
below average gas mileage
My 2016 Jeep Patriot High Altitude which I purchased in 2020 (54,000 miles) has been a reliable vehicle. Currently 108500miles. Nothing fancy. I have not put much into it . rotors, pads, sway bars and a rear wheel bearing. I change oil every 3-4 thousand miles. I haven't changed transmission fluid although i have the dealership check at $ 75.00 a pop. I have concerns regarding the CVT transmission. So far no problems. However once they go its a $ 3500.00 to 5000.00 new replacement. Con-below average gas mileage for a 2.4 engine.
No
Everything is wrong with these vehicles
Pile of junk, if you own this vehicle, your a fool too for buying it. They are full of problems. Transmission, engine, electrical. Plastic parts, etc all cheap as can be. It's not reliable, it's not a good vehicle. Terrible resale value..
gas milage
EVERYTHING
The patriot sucks bad. When first got mine with 53,000 miles, wheel speed sensor immediately went out, after getting it fixed, it immediately started having electrical issues and severe difficulty going up hills(5,000 rpms to go up a small hill and still lose 10-20mph). highly advise not to get one of these.
Heated seats
Sensors are terrible
These cars have bad sensors, crankshaft and cam shaft position sensors. It is recall on them but they make you wait till paper is mailed, this is a bad car it just keeps blowing the sensors. Do not buy
best year for a Patroit no problems with 106000 miles on the clock, won't get rid of this ever, good vehicle this is a FWD 4 door
