Positive Review
Against my family and friends recommendation I purchased 2015 Cherokee. I moved from a Honda CRV with 250,000 mile on it. I have been surprised with the power delivered from the 4 cylinder and the ZF transmission. For a Jeep, it handles like a sports car. The interior is stunning and well executed. My biggest disappointments came from the many times I had to tale it back to the dealership for recalls and warranty repairs. None were very serious but all were aggravating. 4 recalls and 3 warranty issues in the first 6 months. As far as being a traditional Jeep, it handles snow and mud very well. I like the handling both on and off road. Overall, I remain positive about my choice.
Critical Review
I purchased a new 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude mid-December 2013. Approximately two weeks later, I noticed that significant amounts of water had collected on the inside of both headlights. I returned the car to the Jeep dealership where they replaced both headlights citing a Service Bulletin which acknowledged the potential for condensation in the lights. A week later, on a 5 degree night , I found frost built-up on the inside of one of the new headlights; I brought the car back to Jeep. This time, however, the service department used the Service Bulletin (SB 08-086-13) to justify not replacing the lights. The Bulletin maintains that the condition is acceptable in that it "will usually clear as atmospheric conditions change (I kid you not) to allow the condensation to change back into a vapor. Turning the lights on will usually accelerate the process." In other words, the deficiencies in the headlights design, manufacturing process, and/ or installation are to be addressed by the actions of the customer (or apparently Mother Nature), not Jeep. In the numerous discussions with sales, service and corporate customer service, representatives agreed the Bulletin does not address the issue (from a customer standpoint) but insisted that there was nothing they could do. My corporate Case Manager has closed my file all while noting he had received multiple complaints related to the dullness of the lights . In addition to the headlight issue, the transmission tends to "stick" or "hang-up" during transitions between gears, especially at speeds under 25 mph. This condition is intermittent and varies in degree of severity but tends to be more pronounced when descending in speed. In the more extreme cases a "clunking" noise/vibration was felt which emanated from the bottom of the car. Jeep updated the transmission software program but this resulted in no noticeable improvement. Note - With Active Drive I, there is no mechanism to manually engage full-time 4 wheel drive. The Selec- Terrain dial which puts the car into Snow, Mud, etc. mode does not put the car into 4-wheel drive - it adjusts other systems. With Active Drive II there is a Rear Axle Lock which is available (i.e., the car is simply an AWD without it). I only mention this because the sales department was apparently trained otherwise; I needed to go to Jeep corporate to get clarification. One final thought - the customer will do most of the "homework" in trying to resolve these issues. Sales sent me to service, service commented that maybe corporate had a new light design in the works (i.e., the customer should call corporate), corporate asked me if I would ask the service department if they had a different light that could be installed, etc. All good questions that should have been tracked down and answered by someone who took ownership of the issue - FROM JEEP! Meanwhile I have a car the family is hesitant to drive because of headlights that could become significantly impaired and the transmission.

I purchased a 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk that was lightly used and very well maintained at the end of 2024. I also took great care of this vehicle, and followed all recommended service requirements. Only 13 months after I purchased this vehicle, the PTU (transfer case) in the drivetrain failed without warning while I was driving the speed limit on I 90 west in Montana. Luckily, it was not busy on this day and I was able to safely bring the car to the side of the road and had cell service to call for help. There were less than 40k miles on the vehicle. This failure was terrifying, I feel lucky to be alive, I could only imagine what horrific accident this mechanical failure could have caused if I had been in any other scenario. To make matters worse, I was unable to get the vehicle repaired in a reasonable amount of time, as this component is on extended back order. I ended up having to sell it for less than what I owed on it and purchase a new vehicle. I am disturbed that this is a known problem and failure point (so much so that it is on indefinite back order), but continues to be manufactured into several Jeep/Stellantis models. I am also disturbed that the part that failed gave no warning prior to failure, rendering my car undrivable, and could've led to my own and my fiancee's deaths if I hadn't responded quickly, and been in an ideal driving situation. Upon having this experience, I know see just how many deaths this has caused and how many lawsuits there are currently for this issue. I will never buy a Jeep or Stellantis manufactured vehicle again, and will make sure I tell everyone I know they shouldn't either. I reported this failure to the NHSA, and I encourage every other owner to do the same. We need to get this recalled before more people die.
I loved my 2015 Jeep Cherokee Sport zero issues, fast, spacious and reliable just make sure you keep up with the maintenance.
Absolutely love the V6. Has all the bells and whistles. Plenty of room and easy to handle. Have had mine for over 3 years with absolutely no problems.
The rear differential failed at less than 108,000 kms....over warranty, so a very expensive fix. It failed on the highway; thankfully, I felt something was "off" and got off the lane of traffic before the vehicle locked up and skidded to a halt, but if I had chalked up the issue to road conditions (snowing) and kept driving at traveling speed for the road conditions, myself and others on the road could easily have been killed. Vehicle is maintained regularly, has never towed anything, and never been used off-road. It is comfortable, and handles well, and had lots of features (heated steering wheel, remote start, etc) that I appreciated. I really liked it, but for me this failure is too critical and expensive for me to EVER consider another Jeep product. Many online sources say the powertrain / differential is a known issue, and some US models were recalled for these types of failures, from what I've been able to find...so I am extremely (and unfortunately) not convinced of the overall safety of this vehicle (or any Jeep) now.
Comfortable, sound system, decent on gas, handling ok
Reliability, value for money, repair costs, resell value
It was a very good car from 20k until about 80k miles, then things started to go. The thermostat is usually a quick and cheap fix in most cars but this one was a $900 job just because they had to take apart everything to get to it. Then the struts started to go (which is normal) but with this car you had to replace the CV joints along with the struts, making it even more expensive. I was not going to wait until 100k miles just to fix more issues. I feel bad for the family I sold it to even though everything got fixed and there was nothing wrong when it was sold. I did not get much for it even at only 90k miles. I now bought a 2005 Rav4 and I know it will still be driving while the cherokee will be in a junkyard somewhere soon.
Nice car taken care of by dealer drive by eighty year old person no accidents all wheel drive and four wheel drive
Comfortable
Slow shifting
Have 50k miles into this 2.4 and so far love it! No real issues, regular maintenance. Transmission needs babying with warming up otherwise it’s a little cranky until it’s loose. Favorite part is ease of use with interface and convenience in the inside.
Perfect size for me and maneuvering is wonderful
Not as comfortable as Toyota but as close as you can get
Love my used car. Low miles but older and rides extremely well. Comfortable is good.
