Positive Review
Named her Susie Q. She comfortable to ride in Lots of head and leg room, front and back seats. Huge trunk. 4.5 litre V-8 puts out more than enough power, reliable old work horse. Driving at first is a handful, powerful, big, and weighs in around two tons. (front right fender were bumper meets fender...usually has damage). Climate control display burns out, door windows have regulator issues, only a problem if you like to rolldown your windows. Transmission plan on replacing every 100,000 miles. Replacement parts usually not stocked and have to be ordered, and can get pricey. Over all the Q45 is a great car. She 20 years old and will easily and comfortably cruse at 120/125mph NO PROBLEM! Traffic permitting. The average person looking at a 1990's Q45 will think it's much newer than it really is.
Critical Review
I brought this vehicle when it was 7 years old and had 67,000 miles on it. One thing that always irked me was this vehicle's voracious appetite for premium fuel(and I am a conservative, older driver). I got an actual 14-16 miles to the gallon and I seldom used the air conditioning! I could fill this car up and after 14-28 miles, the gas hand had visibly moved! It was kind of a nusiance to go to a gas station every 4-5 days to fill up.(not to mention the expense)I was also disappointed with the sun roof which would leak when it rained. I think I had it open about 5 times during the time I owned the car so I couldn't understand why it leaked. This car didn't need a lot of work done on it(I traded it at 147,000 miles), but when it did need a part it was EXPENSIVE! For instance I paid $152 for an AC compressor pulley PLUS the labor to put it on for a total of $354! The car developed a sqeak on the right front end when it was in motion, I took it in(thinking maybe a ball joint was failing or the front end needed lubing) and was surprised to find out that the front end suspension on this car has pressed in rubber bushings, like FORD uses. In other words, they couldn't be lubed-they had to be replaced! Infiniti told me it would cost nearly $3,000 to replace all of the rubber bushings on the front end. The decision to trade this car revoled around the fact that with 147,000+ miles on it, I was expecting to have to replace the starter and the fuel pump eventually-so I was looking at shelling out about $5,000+ for a car whose book value was now only about $1,800. On the plus side, the car had very comfortable seats, a nice sound system and great handling, but other than those few good things I was kind of disappoited with it..

You couldn't ask for a better car to enjoy both worlds. Very clean. All the extras. And very well maintained
Amazingly reliable, well built, and still stylish
No built-in cup holder, slightly tight on headroom
I purchased my '96 Q almost three years ago from an elderly couple in Palm Springs that apparently never drove it. It still only has 98,000 miles. Car is still solid like a tank, engine runs smoothly, interior is flawless, other than the rear passenger window switch isn't working. That's it. Obviously, this is the kind of car that requires regular maintenance, and does use a fairly high amount of premium fuel (average 17 mpg, 20 with more highway driving), but it's worth it. I actually prefer cars from this era over the technology-laden new ones as most of those features are pretty useless anyway. All in all, an excellent car, especially for its age, and I will definitely drive it for as long as I can.
style and neverending quality
long term quality car that worth the 50k price
After 20 years I'm having a hard time to replace this car. Drove many 2012-2014 cars that don.t impress me given the q is twenty year of wear and still rides and drives as good and sometimes better. My replace it with the new C 400 this fall if it is as good....
Luxury car, fun to drive
Dealer repair are expensive.
I am the second owner of this car. I bought this car with 65K miles on it and currently has 136K miles. I'm very satified with the performance of this vehicle. It has a V-8 engine, japanese made and very comfortable to drive and rides smooth. A luxury car, well maintained with 4 brand new michellin tires.
Ride, Performance quiet.
no cup holder
I bought this car from an auction with 73000 miles on it. The first owner always kept it garaged. This is my 3rd Q and the first one with active suspension I have owned. This car is a dream to drive on city streets and on the highway it is a rocket with excellent gas mileage. The handling is superior with the active suspension and holds the road very nicely and handles corners perfectly. This car is very well put together and you can tell the engineers spent a lot of time designing this cruiser. If it had a cup holder built in it would be perfect!
i just bought this car 3 weeks ago.....the only problems I have had from this car is that the alternator went out a week after i bought it, and the light on the for the display on the radio works intermittently but overall i love this car. It drives smooth and just seems to want to go. A very comfortable and smooth ride. I couldnt have purchased a better car despite the minor alternator problem.
Fun to drive, pleanty of leg room in back, power, handling and breaking
Gas milage is poor. I do mostly around town but avg. only 14 MPG
I bought my q used with about 80K miles on it. The car rides like a dream. Nice smooth ride yet sporty too. The car has lots of power, goes up hills and inclines like nothing. I did have toreplace tranny at about 115K miles. Other than that I like the car better than newer cars I have owned such as MBZ 320, BMW 535, Infiniti G35 and M35. Newer cars have cool tech features that this car does not but in terms of ride, power reliability this car beats them all hands down.
It's an iNFINITI, lots of bang for your buck
It's an INIFINITI, and believe it or not... no cup holder
