Positive Review
Ive had this car for five years now and its been the best car ive ever owned. I have driven to florida, ohio, indiana and many more places and have never had an issue with the car. I do all my own service to it and all ive ever had to do is the half shaft, power steering lines and intake manifold which all together didnt cost me over 1000 bucks. As long as the maintance is kept up the car will never die. all my friends cant believe that its a Hyundai. i drove it to a lincoln dealership and the sales rep thought it was one of his own. Highly Recommended car for everyone. i just wish hyundai would make some more of them.
Critical Review
I will agree that this car is very stylish and roomy. And when running it's great. But this model and year has been plagued with nothing but problems. Constantant mechanical and electrical problems (Timing belt, crank sensor, radio skips, and it constantly blows fuses and the keyless entry didn't work when I bought it.) I bought the car a year ago from a private seller. Very reasonable - I see why. I've put more than 3K into it and it won't even pass state emissions tests. I've gotten nothing but grief from this vehicle and I would not recommend this year to anyone.

Great engine, smooth ride, comfortable, spacious
No rear seat lighting, No Aux cable
I bought it as my first car from a dealer in November of 2013. I have done over 10,000 miles on it in two years and now in Jan 2016, the car still runs just great. No problem with the engine. When I bought it, it had bad rear suspensions. I changed it and also changed mass airflow sensor. It had some fuel line leak and oil pan leak. I got it fixed and it ran great and silky smooth. Recently, the ABS stopped working and interior light stopped working too. The transmission has trouble shifting to 5th gear. Apart from this, driving in this car is so good that I don't feel like buying another car even though I can afford a new one. I am in love with this 2001 model XG300 car in 2016 !!
fun to drive across the country
likes the gas in the city

I love this car so much that I am reluctant to buy a new one. I waited for the 2011 Sonata Hybrid, but I'm just not ready to give up my XG. This car has been almost trouble free. The Transmission was changed at 99,000, but was still under warranty. We've just recently had to spend money for major issues. Last year we replaced the Airflow Mass Sensor ($688.80), Steering Rack ($777.95) and the Power steering Return Line ($214.89). This past week the Air Condition Compressor ($1,000). Not bad for a ten year old car with 147,00 miles. It's like the Eveready Bunny, it just keeps going and going and going. Also, this car has a Combo Cassette Tape and CD Player as well as a CD Changer that holds 8 CDs. That's not available in the new cars. Another (maybe small, but important to me) reason to keep my XG.
Fun, elegant, sporty, very dependable
No back seat lighting.
I bought my XG300 new in 2001, and now, 10 years later, it still is an awesome car! The styling has shown to be timeless, many people ask if it's a Lincoln, Lexus, Infinity, etc and are surprised when I tell them it's 10 years old. The steering is tight, hugs the road, powerful and very comfortable. Lots of room for passengers and spacious trunk. It's very dependable, starts every time and runs like a dream! I will keep this car forever!
A lot of value
Had to buy new gaskets for the oil pan etc. Had some slight oil leaks but fine now.
I bought an XG 300 in January 2001. It was the first in Westchester County. 5 Speed variable front end diferential, it still is a car ahead of it's time. And styling. It is a beauty. I can't bear to sell it. I am retiring it for local use at my home in Naples florida. At ten years old it desearves to be in a warm place without the North east winters. What a car!
