"great car"

I get 32 mpg winter and 37-39 mpg summer. With all the room I need being 6'5" my wife 6'2" and my 18 year girl at 6'1" best leg room and hip room really room for 5 adults. Also I can drive 575-610 per tank. It is a little buzzy with concrete roads.

Critical Review

"HYUNDAI DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT"

At 17,000 miles I have almost completely bald tires on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata that I purchased brand new. This was caused by a tracking issue which has been recalled by Hyundai. However, Hyundai states that it is not caused by their tracking issue, and that it is my fault for "lack of maintenance". All maintenance was performed on this car per manufacturers standards, but Hyundai still states that it is my fault, not theirs. Hyundai brags up their fantastic warranty, but then they don't stand by their vehicle at all. I would not recommend any Hyundai vehicle to anyone.

Good but bad.
Pros

lasted 11 years?

Cons

TONS OF THEM

I have had my ‘14 Sonata for 5 years now and have put roughly 100,000 miles on it, and i bought it at 80,000 miles. But this car has not held value at all. She was a great car until all the sudden she wasn’t. my car had burned oil like crazy for the past 60,000 miles, i mean i have to put oil in it weekly. She likes to stall when i try to speed up. The tires like to make a knocking noise when I turn the wheels. A lot of the interior paint is coming off. My dash just randomly cracked one day. I have wiring issues with my headlights and tail lights, had to replace the part my tail lights clip into bc somehow they both melted? I have wiring issues with my doors to where at times some of the doors won’t lock or unlock. My key likes to not turn in the ignition at times. and I have so much more. I will say that i have kept up with the maintenance on this car but it is terrible. I will never own a Hyundai again.

White paint peeling on 2013 Sonata

I have loved my 2013 Sonata for years. It’s 2025 and it is mechanically still working well. My only complaint is about the paint. It started peeling off the trunk about 3 years ago. Now, the paint above the passenger side rear door is peeling off. I’ve seen other white Sonatas with peeling paint also.

Sucks

First let me just say this car has always been taken great care of. When I first got this car at around 80k miles I had to put at least $1,200 into it. Then it got stolen (notoriously easy to steal), another $1,500 to repair. Now suddenly it's burning oil out of nowhere, and the engine is toast at just 116k miles. Big sad.

Reliable and comfortable sedan
Pros

Reliable and comfortable

Cons

Don’t lock keys in trunk without having extra tools on hand …it’ll be on lockdown down like Fort Knox

I bought my car over 10yrs ago… I’ve taken care of maintenance and it has been the most reliable car I’ve ever owned to date thus far. I’ve driven it across the country 5 times along with regional driving. Just don’t lock your keys in the trunk bc it’ll be on lockdown like Fort Knox : /

Shopping to find a car for my daughter and came across this 2011 Hyundai Sonata with only 38k miles. It was in my price range and contacting owner was easy.

Great reliable car
Pros

Very spacious. Decent mpg.

Cons

Automatic door lock/unlock buttons didn't work

This car was very dependable for me. Bought one used with 70k miles in Jan 20'. Drove that I felt a decent amount for 4 years, put 50k miles on and had no major issues. Had to replace the battery once, couple tires, regular oil changes. I did have to have the alignment adjusted due to some vibrating but can't say this issue derailed my ownership experience. Worth the money if you don't care to much for what the car looks like. Only moving on since mine was rear ended on the freeway. Would recommend to a friend.
