Positive Review

"2024 Hybrid Calligraphy - almost a 5 star."

I’ll keep this rating short, but bottom line - Wow, when it comes to luxury interior, quiet cabin, smooth ride, and safety features, it’s hard to beat, especially considering it’s MSRP. Making a change from a gas 3 row SUV it did take some time to adapt to a hybrid performance, but can’t beat 34 mpg average (regular gas). The infotainment system I found amazing but again took some effort to set up it all up. We wanted a safe vehicle and with the number of sensors and camera capabilities makes safe driving easy. There are things I wish they included - first being a spare tire. As of now, only the gas SantaFe gets a spare as the hybrid is equipped with a plugin tire air pump. Interior design does not have overhead compartment for sunglasses, nor a convenient place for coin storage. Small things I know, but just a FYI.

"Don't Recommend if you have pets"

I'm sorry to say after purchasing this vehicle, I find it to be one of the worst purchases of my life and there is very little support from the dealership or Hyundai When we got the vehicle at 1st on a Sunday, I was expecting some issues with the move to a new vehicle. esp. as we tend to purchase a NEW vehicle about every 5 years and all the changes in technology. We also purchase used vehicles every 3 to 5 years, maintaining them until they are between 10 and 12 years old. On Monday we had a list of issues that ranged from stupid things like seats crushing the drivers when they attempted to reset to the last position, remote keys or fingerprints not working, motion sensors, and the collision alert going off when taking the vehicle uphill. When I called the dealership sales team, they were not cooperative and refused to assist in resolving any of the issues. Hyundai online support called and resolved all our issues except the one below. One of the primary issues is the motion detection in the rear of the vehicle, and this means we cannot leave pets in the car when we go out to a restaurant or to pick up groceries without the alarm going off. Hyundai informed me that they will never resolve this issue, citing it as a safety feature. Why can you turn off other safety features like advanced crash detection system but not the cabin security system?

Worst car I ever owned

I would not recommend this car to anyone. It is plagued with so many issues, it would not turn off for 40 minutes or shift gears,, AC randomly turns on when the car is off, and keys are nowhere near the vehicle, woke up one morning to find all the windows open, unresponsive accelerator, multiple false alarms. The worst part about this car, you can’t find a decent and honest service department to take care of the concerns. I’ve been to three dealership service departments in Connecticut, none of them cared to try to address the issues. Instead, my car was used to smoke pot in, run to McDonalds and as personal transportation to and from work.

Not reliable
Pros

Options and styling

Cons

Reliability

My wife bought a 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Caligraphy in October of 2025. It is currently in the shop/dealership for the second time with the car going into a "limp" mode while driving the car. The car will not go over 25 MPH. It is dangerous being on a highway with a car doing that. I honestly dont think they know what is wrong with it. My wifes loves the car/options but the last breakdown has ruined it for her. At this point we are waiting on meeting the lemon law requirements for our state.

The Ultimate Chiming Machine
Pros

comfortable, quiet, smooth, efficient

Cons

Driving aides, electronics, headlights, windshield wipers, paint quality, rattles, transmission, sensors, dealer support,

Where to start.. Well let's look at the good.. The infotainment was the best designed system in any modern car.. The interior was beautiful. Seats were comfortable, and the fit and finish initially was mercedes quality. It was also sharp in black with the brown interior. The engine was okay, not refined enough to match the interior quality, was buzzy and always sounded like it was going to eat a rod. The hybrid system was ultra smooth and refined. I was able to get excellent mpg. Unfortunately that's where the praise stops. Dealership support was trash, the corporate support was worse. The vehicles have extremely buggy safety features, almost dangerous. They take away driver controls with no real way to disable them, as a result you are driving something you have limited control of, and for an experienced driver it's terrifying. The faw disables cruise control, there's no regular cruise control, the sunroof open will cause the faw to fail, sunglasses, or polarized glasses or transition lenses. Faw also cannot see motorcycles, so light alert system will block you from pulling through an intersection if it sees a truck, but insist you run over a motorcyclist of one is in front of you.. Speaking of seeing, Headlights are terrible, it doesn't have intermittent wipers, the automatic highbeams see the glare of street signs as oncoming traffic. The parking sensors block tight garage parking, the lane keep sensors will choose a head-on over crossing a lane shoulder white line.. The electronics are designed by someone who has never driven, for someone who shouldn't drive. The replacement parts.. Headlights are one piece as are tail lights, headlights are 2500.00 a piece and not covered by the warranty as they are items that will fail over time, tail lights are 3300.00.. Which is nuts.. I was so stressed driving it, i dumped it.. Found a vehicle with none of this stuff in it, and chose it based on that fact.. It's a beautiful vehicle, just extremely poorly engineered.

Good SUV

A replacement for 330000 mile 2002 'burbon. Had to drive 250mi to pick up. So far excellent, to drive, very comfortable, space good, power is adequate, Bluetooth excellent. Gas milage better than the EPA says. Very good on long trips.

Pros

Comfortable ride

Cons

Early on transmission issues, limited 3rd row seat

I love my Sante Fe Limited, very comfortable except 3rd row which was clearly designed for children not adults. She is fantastic on long rides and for pulling our trailer. However... We purchased her in December and in January we started getting transmission problems. On cold days -20C and lower she would send off all sensors and engine warnings. When reported I was told this is normal.... it was not. At 3000 miles she needed wheel speed sensors and her abs was not working. She spent a month in the shop in April for this ongoing issue. At 8000 miles she is back in the shop for a rear differential which is highly unusual in a new car. She's been there over a month now with no estimate of time, we just keep getting told the part is back ordered. Get the warranty, you'll need it.
