Critical Review
This is first summer for this car and I notice when AC in on and car is not moving there is some kind of moaning very loud noise coming from the engine. I took my car to the dealer from where I purchased this vehicle. I was informed that Honda Motors is aware about this issue in 2012 Pilot. I am very surprise and upset that despite Honda Motor is aware about this issue till the date Honda did not solve this problem. Please make a note that the noise is very loud when AC is on and car is not moving. This noise is very annoying. DO NOT BUY HONDA PILOT 2012 UNTIL THEY SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

Expensive to fix. 700 for a backup camera. The head gasket went out before 200k miles even after the timing belt and water pump at 100k. Regular oil changes were all done. The engine is so complex that a head gasket fix is 15 hours of labor. Thermostats for this car are defective. Other Honda genuine parts for this year and newer are as well I’m sure. That thermostat was replaced once, then again 3 years later. Very frustrated with the computer diagnostics also. They’re hard to trace and inconsistent. Lights come on for lean fuel codes, misfires, everything under the sun, but they can’t later be traced on Honda’s computer system. Lights would be on a day, then off for 5; so good luck tracing anything even if you tried. With so many codes, you’ll probably end up spending more than the vehicle is worth to keep it going. Reliability for years after 2013 doesn’t seem to be great for Honda either. Probably the most disappointing vehicle I’ve ever bought. Debating an F150 as we speak. Probably not newer f150’s with eco boost. Paid more for this car while giving up my Sirius radio and I so regret it. Also it’s not great cosmetically. Paint peels and oxidizes easily, the trunk latch doesn’t always work, and the electronics aren’t great. To lose my speed dial contacts constantly, and lose my phone’s ability to connect in order to answer calls as I drive is extremely annoying and disappointing. For Hondas “holding value” so they’re more worth it. I wonder about that logic as I’m practically having to rebuild this one. Complete junk I paid a little over 8k and I should’ve paid 2 given this amount of unreliability.
Honda Pilot is one of the best cars. We have had 3 and they run incredible. Reliable, easy to work on (if need be) Roomy and hauls almost as much as a truck
Economical and trouble free
I cant think of any cons
I bought this car new 10 years ago in June. The only things I have done are general maintenance. I am on my third battery, second set of tires and 4th set of wiper blades It has been absolutely trouble free.
The headlights and white bulbs are new. 4 new tires were put on a year ago and one got a flat 2 days ago and I put on a new one. The oil and filter were changed.
Reliable, comfortable, and functional.
MPG is just so so, normal for this class of SUV.
We bought this car on Mother's Day 2012. Over the last 14 years, besides regular maintenance and a couple of minor warranty repairs in the early years, we have not encountered any issues. We couldn't be more pleased with the value that we're getting out of this well-built SUV, and we plan to keep it for many more years!

You can’t go wrong buying a Honda, any model. I’ve had my pilot for ten years. I will be driving it as long as I can. Although, I’m not a fan of the newest style of the pilot.
