Positive Review
Bought this car with 205K miles on it, with no worries whatsoever. Every mechanic I spoke to had no qualms about purchasing a high mileage Honda pending a pre-purchase inspection, and thus far this vehicle has not disappointed. The previous owner made a point to do regular maintenance on the required intervals, and this vehicle acts as though it's just been broken in. Everything is original with no major maintenance, and even items like the seats and other high-touch items have handles wear well. Just completed the timing belt and spark pulgs at it's required 210k mile mark, and expect this vehicle to take me and my family onward for another 100K+. Couldn't be happier with this vehicle.
Critical Review
Loyal, 20-year, three Honda owner. My newly purchased 2008 Honda Pilot Ex-L 4WD leaks water inside four doorsills with every heavy rain and every car wash. Serious manufacturing defect allows water leakage along door seals into/under inside doorsills up onto carpet edges. Water stands up to 30 hours until all four doors are opened and the rubberized foot guards are pounded and mopped. Rubber-backed carpet hides leaks and mildew. American Honda states that water seepage is "normal" because Pilot's door is "not a sealed door." Trusted dealer states "2008 Pilot was re-designed to siphon rainwater into inner doorsills" to correct more serious leakage problems with 2006-2007 models (see Honda Technical Service Bulletin 07-010). No repair possible. Unclear how widespread this manufacturing defect actually is. My advice: Water test before you buy.

Cargo room and engine dependability.
Aftermarket stereos are not compatible with the stock subwoofer.
As long as the regular maintenance is being done, especially the fluid replacements, this SUV will take a licking and keep on ticking. Decent gas mileage for its size. Can carry 8 passengers, or a sheet of plywood instead. Can tow a loaded utility trailer or a medium sized boat. Come snow or mud, soccer games or camping trips, this SUV always keeps time.
I absolutely love my Honda Pilot!! If I could I would stack more of them in my garage so I would always have one til I died. Comfortable, super easy to work on, even for people with limited knowledge. I put heavier springs on it from Moog and she rides/tows even better. They are a 300000 mile vehicle. I put a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer in every oil change. I can change all the fluids in about 2hrs. Front & rear differential, Tranny, engine oil & anti freeze. Simple as eating cake!!!
Bought my 06 Pilot in 2007 with 16k and going on 290k now. Comfortable, reliable and easy to maintain.
Original owner. Good condition. Timing belt done . Oil has been changed on time. Transmission is good.
I bought my Pilot in 2008 when it was coming off a lease. At the time it had about 40,000 miles on it, so it was good and broken in. I kept the car for 15 years, finally trading it on a little Ford Escape in 2023. I enjoyed the Honda. It served me well, especially with its cargo capacity. I had it serviced regularly by a local mechanic, rarely taking it to the Honda dealership. There were a few quirky repairs I had to attend to during the time I had the vehicle, among them the replacement of a window motor and the repair of seat belt on the passenger side that would not hold tension. The only other big repair I remember was replacing the alternator. For what it's worth, I also had the car repainted at Maaco for about $1400, and they did a fine job. I would have kept the car longer, but there was no way it would pass inspection the last year I had it. I doubt that I'll ever keep another car as long as I had the Honda.
Just curious, how much my Honda pilot is valued, with its mileage. I am carrying a complete coverage on my car with the insurance company. Wondering if it’s worth it to me to keep the insurance. Love my Honda pilot
Dependable and comfy
Window motors aren’t great, and windows fell off t
I have a 2004 Pilot with 130k miles, and I love it. Mother-in-law was original owner, and I inherited it. Had to fix the windows after the motors gave out, and they fell into the paneling, but the motor is sound. Great car, zero trouble. I’ll never sell it-my plan is to drive it until it’s in drivable. Hopefully many, many years down the road.
Very sound mechanically ,seats 8
Trunk space, leg room in back rows
Love this vehicle! Very dependable!! Not the most stylish compared to more modern SUV's - but I'll take dependability over looks and bells and whistles any day! 300,000 and still going strong!
