GMC Dealership Repair Options

Owners of GMC trucks and SUVs needing repairs should consider GMC factory-authorized dealers as the first point of reference. In addition to using genuine GMC parts, dealers have firsthand knowledge of your vehicle, as well as the latest recall notices and service bulletins as issued by the manufacturer.

In the case of a leased GMC vehicle, many of these contracts including those from GMFinancial will require the use of genuine General Motors original equipment parts when making the vehicle whole again. Check your policy: In some cases, insurance companies will pay only to a certain point. Any overage may result in an out of pocket expenditure to be paid by you.

For GMC vehicles with specialized construction elements such as aluminum body panels, and carbon fiber (CarbonPro in GMC speak) bed walls, a GM-approved facility may be the only option for getting it repaired properly.

Training

GMC-approved repair mechanics receive factory training on the latest techniques and procedures to keep your GMC truck or SUV running properly. They include instruction through the GM Service Technical College where technicians work towards their Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications, which train GM (GMC, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and Buick) brands to be better equipped for the repair of your General Motors vehicle.

Loan car policy

If your GMC requires any sort of warranty repairs within the 3-year/36,000-mile warranty period, alternate transportation may be available under GM’s Courtesy Transportation program. Consult with your service advisor for more information. If your GMC vehicle is in for collision repair, the use of a loaner may be covered by an insurance policy rider.

Collision repairs

General Motors announced in August 2018, the creation of the General Motors Collision Repair Network. Using a directory maintained by GM’s OnStar division, the group will direct GMC Vehicle owners to the nearest GM-approved service provider (which may or may not be a part of a dealership) where qualified technicians will follow specific factory-prescribed features in making your GMC truck, crossover or SUV whole again.

After passing the GM certification process, these facilities are the first to receive specific GM training for the various brand vehicles, not to mention the latest tools and post-repair scanning equipment to make sure the procedures are followed exactly.
