Positive Review
I love it, I get compliments every where I go, and it apparently worth more than I paid for it brand new, a year and a half later. can't ask for much more than that.
Critical Review
Purchased our AT4 new in June of 2019. It has been at the dealership for the drivers seat cracking 4 times in less than 2 years. They just keep replacing the seat cover and not willing to figure out why it keeps cracking. These seats are advertised as leather but they are not all leather. Just part of them are leather and the sides are vinyl. There have been multiple recalls on the vehicle. This is also the 4th time it has been in for 4WD issues. Multiple times the truck has given us the service 4WD light. We have took it in every time and was told that it does not pull any codes. Well January 27, 2021 there was a horrible popping noise coming from the front passenger side. Took it straight to the dealership. They put it up on the rack and said we had a broken axle. Ordered the part and had it put in for us to pick up on February 8th. We had the truck less than 24 hours and it started making the same noise. Immediately took it back to the dealership. The tech drove it around the lot, put it back up on the rack and was able to move the axle around with his hand. Had to leave the truck with them. They called the next day saying that the whole front differential had to be replaced due to there was metal shavings in the fluid. Today is now April 1, 2021 and our truck is still sitting at the dealership waiting on the part. Was originally told that GM shipped the part back at the beginning of February but it never arrived at the dealership. Was then told by GM that they would not ship another part until the one they shipped was located. We have made calls to the dealership and GM every other day and now being told that their is not a part available for the truck. We was lied to last week from GM by a rep telling us another part got shipped but could not provide a tracking or a ETA of the part. It should not take 8 weeks and counting to have a warranty repair done. This is the first GMC vehicle that we have ever purchased and it will be the last. We are going back to Ford Trucks as soon as this thing is out of the shop. I will update this whenever we finally get it back.

It is comfortable and looks good, would be a great lawn ornament
Lacks movement under power, poor quality, poor transmission
I will share a word of caution around the reliability. We have a 2020 GMC Sierra with the 3.0L Duramax. The truck has 125,000 miles (this should be low for a quality diesel) and we were driving across the country when the transmission completely failed on us. The check engine light did turn on briefly the day before however it then turned off on its own after three engine starts. So we thought it was safe to drive and started our trip home. We were driving down the freeway when suddenly we had zero power through the transmission. We got it towed to the nearest GMC dealer. The truck needs we need a new transmission, transmission cooler and all lines. The transmission is fully sealed unlike older diesel transmissions with filters and fluid change intervals. It chewed itself up and had metal shavings everywhere when the dealer removed the pan. This should never happen to a diesel at 125,000 miles. No warranty coverage, no recall coverage, and I am debating if I sell the truck at this point just so this doesn't happen to me again. I don't trust this truck anymore and GMC doesn't stand behind it. Buyer beware.
Great fuel mileage for turbo diesel option
Can be very pricey, especially at higher trim levels
I have a 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 with the 3.0L turbo diesel. This is an outstanding all-around truck. It looks aggressive and refined at the same time, with a clean, modern interior and a stance that means business. The diesel delivers excellent fuel mileage for a full-size truck, especially on the highway, without sacrificing power or torque. Reliability has been rock solid—no issues, no headaches, just consistent performance day in and day out. Off-road, the AT4 package shines with its factory lift, skid plates, and capable 4WD system, making trails, mud, and rough terrain a non-issue. It’s comfortable, capable, efficient, and tough—exactly what a real truck should be.
This is the nicest and best quality truck that I have owned in my life time. I've owned 1 ton Lariat and Mega cabs. Blew the engine and one and wrecked the transmission in another. So far no mechanical problems and over 100k in kms. Hauls very well, does not consume gas like a pig and is still staying tight up front. Bought it brand new off of the lot. Couple things that are annoying about the truck. Center console will freeze every once and awhile. Resets after letting the truck sit for a bit. Kind of clunky and not smooth. Box lines do not line up with the cab. Factory issue that can't be fixed. I will take those issues over having mechanical issues any day. I've been hauling loads roughly once a month that range from 4000Ibs to 9000Ibs and have never had any issues and still have lots of brakes left.
Quality, Comfort and Luxury in an off-road ready package
A bit costly, and the first year had a few bugs to work out.
By far the best pickup truck I've owned. Yes, it costs a bit more than other trucks, but I feel it's worth the money. It's a great value if you need performance and luxury. I've owned over 200 vehicles, 40 of them being trucks. This is by far my favorite. I did notice a few recalls and issues that the dealer fixed, like a box that sat under the rear driver fender, gets wet due to a bad seal... and the power mirrors flipping in on themselves in high wind. Dealer fixed those all for me, but it was to be expected with the first model year. I have a 2019 AT4 5 3/4 ft crew cab with all the options except the 6.2L upgrade and sunroof. Drives like a dream. Suspension is great. The auto 4wd can be a bit undecided, so I recommend using 2wd when you can and 4wd when needed. Auto is not very good at deciding. I once pulled a tacoma uphill on a rainy muddy 25° slope with just some ATs on the truck. Didn't have my MTs on yet. Took a while but we got it up a hill in the rain. Good on gas. Holds it value well. Comfy inside. Quiet cab. Fits my family with 2 baby seats and all my work gear in the cab when raining. I can even put a 20ft ext ladder in the bed with the TailtGate pro. The bed outlet is good for charging my drill batteries at the jobsite... and the speaker in the tailgate is a great party starter.
Feeling very frustrated with the new info center and console layout. Infotainment car is user unfriendly, very glitchy - randomly does what it wants. When you start the car the radio comes on then goes off and you have to turn on again and go to your station. The navigation system stopped working in the middle of driving somewhere. The front camera comes on when driving forward - I can already see where I am going, I don't need a camera. CarPlay was simple and straightforward. The arrangement of the console center is poor. During the day you can barely make out the heating/air-conditioning symbols due to how tiny they are and everything is black and located at the very bottom of console. (talk about distracted driving). Seats are hard as a rock - which have not been comfortable since the 2016. I would not want to buy this truck again just due to the frustration with the infotainment center. Especially, after using CarPlay for years without any issues.
This is the best truck I've owned ever. It is very comfortable and powerful. I also love how quiet and how smooth a ride it is. I use it for trailering all the time and it is still going strong!
Expensive, but worth it. If you can afford it, buy it! Lots of electronics, highly recommend buying an extended warranty from the dealer to cover you in case of issues in the future. Way too much expensive features to risk not having them work and having to pay for replacements.
Absolutely love my truck. The 3.0 diesel gas mileage is crazy great(37.2 mpg) from Fresno to Monterey. So comfortable, great looking , stylish , and would not buy anything other than this GMC 1500 Denali.
