Positive Review

"Gotta love em'"

I've owned my Envoy for 5 years and have had minimal problems with it so far. The suspension and steering tends to be weak on these models, as I have owned several and had the same issues with all. Another issue I've experienced is the 4 wheel drive actuator gets dry rotted and doesn't engage the front axles when the 4 wheel drive button is selected. Other than these and a faulty air door actuator on the ac system, the truck has been an all-around reliable vehicle to commute to work and back. I keep buying them for some reason!!!lol

Critical Review

"Great vehicle: to a point"

I've had this vehicle for 11 years and have loved it (had 11K miles on it when I purchased it). Had a couple problems early on (4WD and transmission) but since then it's been great until the driver's side low beam lamp went out. To replace this (ignitor and ballast), almost all the front end assembly has to be removed to gain access and add to that, the parts cost over $1400!! Add to this the labor cost and it's close to or at $2000 (almost half the value of the vehicle)! Keep in mind that this is only the driver's side low beam. This has really put a bad taste in my mouth about the GMC.

Loved this vehicle
Pros

Only 80,000 miles on engine; fully loaded

Cons

Needs fuel pump, air cond; min exterior damage

Absolutely loved this vehicle; I wanted to keep it after purchasing new Tahoe but didn't end up driving it that much like I thought I would! A new engine was put in at 80,000 miles b/c an oil change made a mistake and blew engine and had to replace w/ a brand new one! I travel a lot for work and didn't want to keep putting so many miles on it, which is the reason for purchasing a new vehicle. It does need a few hundred dollars worth of work but nothing major. Willing to negotiate price down from value based on estimated repair work for fuel pump!

Reliable and full of features

Bought from a friend for 1500 and it needed new tires and brake pads. The shape he sold it to me in is not the best, with the interior worn away a bit and the moon roof not functional, but all the features including the cruise control, 6 cd changer, power windows and seats, heated seats, etc are so nice and i have not had a problem with this car running yet.

worth repairing

i have had my Envoy for 3 years and love it. wonderful in the deep snow. Car had about 87,000 miles when I got it and have only had to do typical maintance, oil, tires ect. Hit some ice and a guard rail and my insureance co totaled it but all due to cosmetic repairs. Took the weekend to see what else was for sale and decided it was worth the money out of my pocket to keep it on the road. Glad I made that decision. NO car payments and runs like a top and still looks great!!!
