Positive Review

"An upgrade from my Tacoma."

Owned 3 Toyota trucks in the past, but I final decided to try something different. Boy, I don't regret my decision. All around, the truck is a step up from my last Tacoma. Much better power, much better performance, better mileage (20-22 in mixed driving vs my old 3.5L Tacoma with 18-19 mpg), better seating comfort and driving position, better safety and driver assist tech, the truck is just better to live with. No reliability issues in the first year, and the truck feels solid overall with excellent fit and finish. If I had to make any complaints, it would be the side mirrors. I have no idea why the mirrors are so small. I also find some infotainment controls to be too complex. Most basic things area easy enough, but going though menus for things like trip information or adjusting vehicle controls has unnecessary steps. Improvements could be made.....Well, that's it! Overall, I love the truck. Having coming from Toyota trucks, that says a lot!

Critical Review

"Denali my rear"

Expected this Denali to include everything that I had in the sierra denali ! There’s no passenger auto up power window, no garage door opener , no lights in the bed , no automatic on windshield wipers , no power rear window , dang truck says Denali all over it inside and out but it’s no where near a sierra Denali , o and the chatter from this engine sounds like a diesel engine with loose aluminum heat shields under it , very noisy and very embarrassing everytime I start this thing

Pros

Beautiful Looking Truck

Cons

Engine &Computer Update Issues

The engine burns oil. They rebuilt the engine now they tell me that it is normal for the engine to burn 1 quart every 2000 miles in addition they did a factory computer update and now the running boards don’t work. They want $210 to do a diagnostic test to tell me what’s wrong. I didn’t ask for the diagnostic test. Additionally, I have to now use special oil with a different viscosity and pay double the price for oil changes as they say you can’t make this up.

Two Year Review
Pros

The looks and higher ride level

Cons

Manual Rear Window, No Headlight Switch

Been a pretty good truck and love the red color option. Interior is well done with only a couple of complaints. Rear window should be power, not manual for a Denali trim level, and put the head light button back. As for issues, had the "radio starts up full blast" issue (bit scary but only happened once) and seems to do alot of downloads where the car can't but used for 15 minutes if allow it to download. Also just had a "Brake Pad Monitor" warning with only 12k on the brakes. All in all, no vehicle is perfect with all these options. It has been very reliable and does what it supposed to do. I would recommend this year to friends and family.

BOB'S 2023 GMC CANYON DENALI
Pros

Looks aggressive

Cons

Needs a V6 option for heavy towing.

Great mid-size truck. Good power and handles nicely. Very comfortable seating with all the bells & whistles. Had a few issues but we're handled under warranty.

Pros

Stylish

Cons

Rough ride, unreliable, low quality

Already had two coolant issues that could have killed the engine if I didn’t see the fluid dripping out from truck. Constant OTA updates that it’s getting tiresome. Paint quality absolutely terrible and rides rough. Avoid! Especially at the current price tag.

Outstanding mid-size truck

We purchased the Canyon Denali in the Fall of 2024, and have just gone over 10000 miles on the odometer. Our last Canyon was a 2021 model. The 2.7l engine is comparable to the 3.6l in the prior model. Ride and handling have improved. The styling changes make it a strong contender. It's a really good looking truck. Everything has been fine. No mechanical problems. The only warranty claim involved a glitch in the dashboard radio controls.

Awesome Truck
gmc canyon-crew-cab 2025 Image - 48165366
Pros

Engine, comfort, towing.

I’ve had mine for 3 years now. Only issue I’ve had is a bad battery, which is expected in Arizona heat. The dealership replaced it the same day, free of charge (warranty). I tow a 4400lb trailer with it once or twice a month to campgrounds across the state. No issues. It’s an all around good truck. I’m a mechanic so I do all my own maintenance and I haven’t seen anything of concern yet. Like all new American trucks, they’re not going to be perfect in the industry of value engineering. From my experience though, I would highly recommend this truck!

Pros

lots of power for a little truck

Cons

So many manufacturer issues and very little to no solutions

I have a new 2023 evolution for 6 ish months! I’ve had a lot of cars and trucks and by far this is the worst vehicle I’ve ever purchased! Everything from bad experience of GM dealerships down to customer service in the service drive and product quality! If this was the only truck you can buy definitely go for it, but if you can avoid it, avoid it like to Plague! I’ve had issues pre-collision camera, slam it on its brakes during construction, and not being able to turn off the cameras unless I was in the complete stop which my luck I was in a one construction site! When you want a pass a car or just a little bit of acceleration on the freeway, the truck feels like it wants to downshift clunks to transmission hard and slingshots down the road! I got two updates and neither one of them fixed any of my problems! I live in Arizona and towards the end of the summer it took me 20 minutes each morning to let my truck warm up otherwise from first second gear, the transmission would slip into second! Driver seat, no matter how much you manually pull it up it’ll creep down. If you’re licking the engine bay look straight down to your steering rack opion is leaking. Whatever you do avoid this truck and the Chevy product as much as possible.. I’ve talked to three other owners of the same truck newer years and still just as much issues.
