Just a Perfect Truck
great for town or towing
haven't any
Dually Is a must for stability pulling the big loads. Wouldn't pull large 5th wheel with anything else. Don't even know you have a load behind it pulls so smooth. Grades in mountains are a snap. Love the truck but can't travel any more so will sell it.
It is as easy to drive as my luxury car
It has performed ,pulled loads & 5th wheel for pleasure all over the country just as inexpensive as my friends new diesels & they never run off leave me.if it sets you don't feel bad because of no payments.
No good
Great truck! Highway towing comfort and very dependable. The 6.5L turbo diesel has a flaw at the main bearing caps where a crack can develop in the threaded holes. Evidently this is caused by the vibrations caused by the 21:1 compression ratio, compounded if you increase the factory maximum boost pressure. Lowering the compression ratio and installing a main bearing girdle or splayed end caps solves this problem and allows for boost presures over 15 PSI if your engine and boost cooling is also upgraded. After that, it is solid day in and day out.
strong motor and transmission
gas mileage, door handles brake easily
I didn't own this truck for too long but while I had it I was pleased with it other then the gas mileage of course when you buy a 1 ton this should not be a surprise. My model had the 7.4 liter diesel turbo in it originally and was replace with the 350. they did the trans at the same time. they put the 4l60 in it instead of the 4l80 and it worked fine of course i did not tow anything heavy with it. I had the single wheel version also i might add but did have the 4.10 rear end in it. I ended up getting between 14 to 16 miles a gallon with it of course that's babying and going 60 or so. I did have over-sized 33" AT's that were 12.5" wide though. the K&N air filter did improve the mileage between 1 and 2 miles a gallon believe it or not.
reliability
almost looks to nice to be a work truck
