"Puts the German Luxury SUVs to Shame"

I was hellbent on getting an Audi Q5. Test drove the car and while it was nice, something was picking at my brain saying "this really isn't worth $62K" so I left the dealer saying I would sleep on it. Everything happens for a reason because not much later I got a call from the Genesis Concierge service saying they had the GV70 in stock and if I wanted to check it out. Took it for a test drive and fell in love immediately. 3.5T Sport Advanced in the most gorgeous matte grey. I've been stopped multiple times to get compliments on how beautiful the car is. Outside of looks, the performance is phenomenal! Buttery smooth acceleration & down shifts, superb cabin noise isolation, adaptive and smooth handling--it puts it's German rivals that are at and even above it's price range to complete shame. On top of all that it's exceptionally functional: all the safety features you can ask for, it can borderline drive itself, has remote and smart park features, and comes with Hyundai/Genesis' unbeatable warranty and maintenance. It's a near perfect vehicle and only have a few minor gripes: The infotainment control wheel and the gear shifter wheel are adjacent to each other so you'll naturally mistake one for the other. You get used to it over time and there are safety measures in place to ensure you don't shift into the wrong gear by accident, but it can be a bit if a nuisance. I'd personally prefer a volume knob instead of the roller wheel, but again, very minor. Lastly, the gas consumption & mileage isn't the best. The gas tank is pretty small, only a gallon larger than my previous Honda Accord, and with such a powerful engine, you can get under 300 miles on a full tank which isn't the best. Should they come out with a PHEV version of this car, it's as good as mine! Otherwise, do not sleep on this vehicle, you won't regret it!

Critical Review

"Big Disappointment!!!"

I know there are others who seem to love their GV70, but to me its a huge disappointment. The fit and finish is terrible with parts that do not fit properly to scratches on the paint and rims. The seats are OK, but the car rides too firm. It's a wannabe Porsche, but make no mistake, this is NO luxury car. It's just a juiced-up Hyundai. The gas mileage you get with this car is horrendous. I average 18 mpg on premium fuel. This car showed so much promise, and it turned out to be a huge letdown. If you're looking for a great luxury car, go with the real name brands like Mercedes, BMW and Porsche. Don't bother with this dud.

Service issues

There are two service departments in Charlotte and both are horrible (Genesis of Charlotte & Genesis of Concord). Takes months to get parts and schedule an appointment and once they have your car it takes weeks for them to get to it even if they say it’s a 1-2 day repair. Pathetically understaffed.

Transfer case issues
Pros

Some nice features

Cons

Poor rely ability

The GV 70 has high failure rate with the transfer case. Genesis knows this and yet will not easily solve it. This car has been in the dealership a total of 4 months. I’ve learned a hard lesson with Genesis. They don’t care!! Be very careful.

Great SUV

This vehicle has it all. All safety devices you need or want. It drives like a luxury sedan. Interior comfort is great, highway noise is almost zero. Fit and finish is impeccable.

Pretty fish tank
Pros

Comfortable drive on dry days

Cons

Quality

While this vehicle looks pretty drives reasonably well over all quality of the 2024 is lacking from the manufacturer. You wont find one near the starting price unless you order and even then im not sure you could. The company has no replacement parts in inventory. I've "owned" this car for three months and the dealer has had it for half that time. And wouldn't you know on day 26 the repair is supposedly made there just waiting on parts. Funny that theres recalls and they just shorted the lemon law in my state

Great, except gauges and steering wheel

Love the Advanced. But the steering wheel is hideous. And at this piece point they have to be fully digital in the gauges. You can only fix these big problems with much more expensive sport package.

Unsafe suv
Pros

Nice looking car

Cons

Cuts out. Deceleration and acceleration on its iw

My gv 70 cuts out on the roadways without warning. It decelerates and accelerates also without warning My daughter and I have driven and have experienced these occurrences repeatedly. My car now in The dealership for last 3 weeks without any communication from dealer until initiated it. Corporate keeps telling me they need to talk another department. Never able to return phone calls to corporate which are infrequent as the voicemail immediately responds. I am concerned about others safety. This situation is far from being resolved.
