Positive Review
Bought new with 14 miles in 1992. 2.3L 4 cyl, 5sp Man Trans. Have 222,000 miles. New timing belt@150K, Cluch@175K, but cluch still had wear left, found out problem was plug wire crossed on driver side and run poor under engine load. Mass air flow sensor@200K Manual trans leaks some fluid, but still runs great. Truck cost new less than $8,000 in 92. Ford got this truck right when designed.
Critical Review
I spent a long time looking for a cool sports car and ended up settling for this car but after a while I realized dont judge a book by its cover. It is all around a good truck. It is very reliable and gets good has milage. Mine has a few minor rust spots but it makes a great college car and I would recommend it to anyone.

Very dependable.. unless previously abused.
No room, not fancy, but who cares.
30 years and going strong! I have always treated it properly as far as maintenance but used it like a mule. At 10° below zero, it turns over 3 times and fires right up. Everything in this 4.0 v6 is still unbelievably tight with clean exhaust and no drips. ...I know.. unbelievable! My 2015 Tacoma sits in the garage waiting it's turn as my final ride and it appears that it will be awhile. I love my Ranger.. even more now with dual exhaust.
Fun to drive, cheap parts, reliable
Underperforms on hills, some parts are hard to fin
My little ranger is awesome, always super reliable, gets the job done, has plenty of power and gets great gas mileage for a pickup. Love it!
i am so glad i bought this truck
bigger seats
I got this truck with 76000 miles in nov 2006 this truck has been so wonderful I love him to death it now has almost 387000 miles and its still great but i'm looking for a bigger truck because I have a big boy GS K-9 he's like 110/115 lbs and he has a hard time getting sitting I don't let him ride in the back its just not safe to me and he is spoiled
gas mileage and reliability

This pickup is actually a 1991 but they wouldn't let me select that year everything is original and in mint condition no rust or scratches original motor and clutch the only thing that is not original is the radio but other than that by far the best truck I have had in a long time I was in Yakima Washington for training and my neighbor came over with the keys and title and told my wife that when I get home to come over and finalize everything which was awesome
good performance, does what i need it to
compressor (probably just on my truck, not sure)
i am the third owner of my ranger. i love it to death. gets me where i need to go and gets decent mileage for an older truck. have had no performance issues what so ever. the ONLY problem ive had was the compressor for the AC going out (but i dont really care, i just roll down the windows). recomend this too anyone looking at a 92 ranger
I liked my pickup w/ 4.0 and tow package, no loss for power. I bought it new in 1992 and it still runs very well. The paint job started flaking off down to the primer when it was about 10 years old. The rear main seal leaks and has been repaired twice. I understand that is the nature of the older standard V6, which has since been corrected? The 4x4 system is electronic and has always worked well w/ only one major repair to the system in 20 years. I would buy another if it wouldn't leak oil. If someone hadn't smashed into it while it was parked, totaling it, I would drive it another 10 years w/ upkeep, appearance aside.
