Positive Review
I’ve had my Lariat for 6 months now and I am happy with it. Although the entry models are very well priced for a brand new vehicle, I chose the Lariat without any upgrade packages as the XL & XLT do not have the current “luxuries” that most would consider standard in a new vehicle. (Push start, dash screen, “leather” seats) The Maverick is the perfect vehicle to suit work and everyday life without breaking the bank. Pros: well priced, well designed interior with ample storage, good on gas, comfortable seats, strong engine, great handling and overall feel without the overbearing ride and size of a truck. Cons: engine auto stop/start cannot be permanently disengaged, sync/bluetooth system can be glitchy on occasion, wind noise at highway speed is noticeable, adding extras to your build can get very pricey.
Critical Review
Review.. I went into this expecting a corolla, or Focus as per the quality. But whoever built this thing forgot to tighten screws. It rattled like a can with two coins in it. It rides like a truck from the 80's but can't haul things like an actual truck. It's cheap, feels cheap, and isn't very well built. It's a great replacement for an 80's ranger, but then so is a 200K mile Tacoma. I hated the rotary shifter, the parking brake that takes 3 days to set and the seats that are designed for people with no legs. The steering wheel felt cheap, and would flex in my grown up hands. Pros: MPG is amazing Paint quality is better than pretty much anything on the road. Flex Bed is well designed Handles(d) surprisingly well Cons: The Blind spot monitoring software has no idea what it's doing.. The Panels all rattle The dash rattles The Gas engine is loud and unrefined The Hybrid brake system was an after thought.. The shape means you can't open the windows without the buffering sound The hill hold doesn't release fast enough and causes you to stutter off the line on a hill.. The aerodynamics of the vehicle means you blow all over the place over 70mph Highway MPG is less than the GTI i owned and that was way better built and more fun to drive. A key to start a hybrid is stupid.. The EV sound is annoying, since they forgot to add any insulation from the factory, it's loud. Verdict: It's built worse than a Jeep Wranger, and no where near as fun to own.. Do yourself a favor, if you want a reliable hybrid, buy a prius.

In warmer months I am uncomfortable literally EVERYTIME I drive. June just started and I’m way too hot everytime I drive. I put the AC on and it’s literally -50 degrees my skin is burning it’s so cold. So for the month of June I have had the AC on for a minute then turn it off, then back on when the low blowers warm air makes me to hot. I like the truck but the temp control is so bad that it warrants a 1 star and I would never purchase a Maverick again since being comfortable in the vehicle seems like an important thing.
Working for a Ford Dealer, and not a truck owner for over 20 years, I was content to keep driving my 23 Escape ST Line with only 13K miles, but then the Lobo showed up on my showroom floor. I even gave a presentation on the truck to my fellow Sales reps then took some pics for my wife. She said it was beautiful and that we should buy it. I did, and everything that's written about it, especially the Lobo Mode is true. Fun truck to drive, and I've been stopped at least three times now by people who say what a cool looking truck it is....and it is. Buy one, you won't be sorry.
4" shorter than my Tahoe was, so easy to park compared to a full size Silverado we once owned.
As happens frequently, couldn't find a truck with all the options I want without paying for several I don't need...and couldn't order as wait time too long and I'd not know how much my trade in would get me by the time I actually traded it.
Bought it 8 days ago new from Ford. Very nice. Turbo runs much quieter than I expected.
Good gas mileage
Unreliable
I bought this Maverick hybrid new in 2022, have had countless problems and recalls completed. This truck has been in the shop more times than any other vehicle i have ever owned. I received a letter from Ford stating that certain engines assembled at the plant in Mexico had a flaw in the engine, crank shaft assembly that could cause the motor to blow up, mine is one of the lucky engines. They offer no remedy other than a 10yr 150000 mile replacement if this happens. Needless to say this truck will not be going on any road trips far from home. Now I have a draw on my starting battery that causes it to go dead after a few days, it's called deep sleep mode and requires a jump start every time. It's been at the dealer 4 times in the last two months with no success in finding the cause. Ford just released a bulletin saying they know this is a software issue, they are working with their engineers and do not have a repair yet. Meanwhile I am making payments on something I cannot drive! STAY AWAY FROM THIS TRUCK!
I really don't understand why so many people are raving about this truck. Are they blind and deaf? The ride is acceptable until you hit high speeds, then you better hang on. The fuel mileage is excellent like everyone else says, I am getting mid 40's. Otherwise, this is a cheap, plastic, HORRIBLY squeaky and rattling piece of junk inside the cab. The computer processing power must be from 20 years ago. The radio, dash, GPS and other electronics take way to long to load and the garbage SYNC never seems to be able to connect to my phone contacts. I have owned it since March of 2024 and I only have 4,000 miles on it. It's the lariat hybrid. I would NOT buy it again.
I bought a new 24 Ford Maverick LARIAT AWD Tremor Package. My first road test was a 700 mile round trip visit with family. The vehicle performed well and was very comfortable. It is a great alternative to a big truck.
Such a fun little truck!! Quick to drive and fun to own.
It has everything you would want in a small truck.
The only con would be size, if you are used to driving a full size.
Excellent Handling, and nice power for a 4 cylinder. The Lariat Tremor package makes it a very nice looking vehicle.
