Positive Review

"KBB's Expert Review tells the story"

White Escape Hybrid titanium. Glad we decided on this instead of Rav4. It's a luxury car for us 'middle-weight' type people. Everything is fine...right now. More satisfied with the 2020 model than our 2016 titanium. Quiet, handles well, like switches, leather upholstery comfortable, visibility good, safety good, very good audio, and good grunt when needed. Driving 2/3's city and 1/3rd highways(2 lane mostly) currently averaging 42.2 mpg!'

Critical Review

"Unsatisfied owner"

Car has the 3 cyl eng..would not recommend it to anyone..has vibration in high gear on highway like it is underpowered...transmission is jerky at startup..maybe a different engine would make a difference but maybe not..not satisfied at all with my escape..

Great performance highway/city/winters
Pros

great handling and mileage, comfortable ride

Cons

Trunk space feels not big enough

Got the '21 SEL Hybrid used, and it's felt like a steal. I was moving from the south to the northern midwest, and needed a car that could hold family of 4+gear, had good mileage, good handling and driving all seasons, and really preferred some creature comforts. 3 months after purchase, I had to take it on the big test of 3k+ mile trip into the Dakotas, ending in a winter storm the last 250 miles. It handled everything wonderfully, and in comfort. MPG dropped to the low-mid 30's when I was doing pure highway, jumped up to low 40's with combo city/highway. No idea what people are complaining about on engine straining/noise, this thing has handled everything from driving 80 along the highways to climbing a steep grade hill during a blizzard. No issues at all, the AWD is a great need for my winters, and it's more modern features work well. My assumption is those complaining of engine noise/issues have had poor maintenance. I've kept up with mine very diligently, and have nice tires in place to help with winters here. The interesting positive is my year/model came with a map nav and sync as standard. So it has mapping/updating/etc all built in. But I never use it as I still prefer my phone Android Auto setup. Biggest complaint is it feels like there's just not quite enough space in the back, even when dropping the seats. You can fit luggage/hardware/gear in there, but you'll need to be creative. I ended up getting the roof rack as a fall-back for bigger things.

Excellent fuel economy and handling!

40 mpg city, 30+ mpg highway. Great acceleration and comfort. Can't be beat for it's low ticket price!

Just buy a Mazda/Honda/Toyota
Pros

Many incentives, if you hate non American cars I guess this is a option

Cons

Price, reliability, recalls, styling, comfort, brand quality, resale value

The Ford Escape comes up short in all the areas that matter. It is overpriced, has a low quality interior, unreliable engine, too many recalls, uncomfortable seats, and an annoying touch screen. If you are considering a SUV please just buy a Mazda CX5, Toyota Rav 4, or Honda CRV. The escape is lacking in features and doesn’t hold resale value at all. You are literally burning money choosing this over a better more reliable option.

Electricity
Pros

Cons

Electricity

When.my.smart cellphone in the car, the battery drains. The radio and cellphone plays at the same time. I have taken it back the Galphin Ford, twice and once to Vista Ford. The second time to Galphin Ford, for them to keep, a couple days or so, the person had spoken with he had drove it and didn't see any thing, he only drove it for three miles, having a attitude about the hold situation. This car has less three thousand miles on it, for all these problems. Yesterday it started up again.

Great SUV

Bought my car brand new February 2023. It’s a 2022 model sports package. Love the way it handles. rarely uses gas as I do mostly in town errands. Smaller than my previous Non plug-in Ford Escape, but actually like it that way. Backseat does fold down and plenty of rear cargo room.

A Subpar option for those who don’t do research
Pros

Looks nice, usually lots of discounts

Cons

Third rate interior, garbage seats, engine moans under basic driving, bad interior layout

Drove one of these for 10 months. The interior is garbage, the engine strains in the city, and the seats feel like they are stuffed with hay. Even for a base trim it feels incredibly poverty with a high price for the lack of things you get.

Reliable and Drives lika car

My Ford Escape is reliable and gets good mileage. I like driving this car because it drives like a car. I would buy an Escape again if only Ford did not stop production of this car.

Never ending problems.

I really wish I never purchased this vehicle. It seems to always have a recall. The Air conditioner was leaking into the car causing it to flood. Welds keep breaking. The engine light has been on and off for emissions issues and recalls. The door welds broke and now the bracket is loose in the door so I can't use my window. Recalled doors have been on order for almost a year!!! I can't seem to keep this thing out of a garage.
