I just finished a six day rental of a '16 Ford Edge Titanium with the Ecoboost 2.0 4 engine, driving it from south Florida to northern Georgia (mountains), down through the west Georgia boonies where The Walking Dead is filmed, then back south. It averaged 28 - 29 mpg on the open (highway/interstate) road, 22 mpg in town per the fuel economy computer..... not bad. The performance of the Ecoboost 4 engine is fairly impressive, considering the weight of the Edge vs the small size of the engine, and it does move it along pretty well. However, if you've carrying a load of people & stuff in a hilly area, you’ll sometimes wish you had another 15 ponies and 20 pound/feet of torque on tap. With a full load, this engine in this vehicle gets the job done, but you won’t have a lot of reserve power to spare. To be fair, compared to the '14 Ford Edge rental I drove two years ago that had a punishing and miserable ride, the '16 Edge is a big overall improvement ranging from the new Sync 3 system to the improved ride, comfort, braking and handling. Very strange, however, that this loaded Titanium didn’t have a GPS system!!!! Nearly a $38k top of the line car, and no GPS? REALLY?? This being said… this particular ’16 Titanium didn't close the deal for my family for a purchase, and here’s why: It rode pretty smoothly and fairly quietly only on the most glass-like asphalt roads (I don’t know where some Edge reviewers say that this SUV is soooo "quiet” – it is NOT, so they must be deaf or Ford fanatics). On any other road surface, the ride was frequently nervous and bumpy, the car thumped and bumped over minor broken pavement, you felt every imperfection in the road through the steering wheel. Depending on the type of road surface, road noise was prominent. For these reasons, these observations were definitely NOT in our definition of a ‘Titanium’ level in our opinion, and the deal breaker for a potential purchase. The road noise from the 19” Hankook 245/55R19 Venus S1 noble tires (set at 35psi per the manufacturer's recommendation) and through the vehicle’s floorpan was a bit excessive, especially since this was the Titanium model. I shudder to think how the Edge Sport must ride and sound with it's even lower profile tires/larger wheels. With the improvements in automotive industry suspension and sound reduction technology introduced over the past few years, there is certainly no excuse for Ford not producing a smoother riding and quieter crossover than this new top of the line Edge. Perhaps the Edge SEL might ride a little better (and a little quieter) with it's standard 18” wheels & tires. If so, a ‘16 Edge SEL could be worth a serious look. I've also just learned that the Titanium can be ordered with the 18" wheels & tires (60 profile instead of 55), so it would be interesting to drive an Edge Titanium with these tires/wheels. In the meantime, maybe Ford needs to talk to Kia, and closely examine a '16 Sorento. I rented a lowly '16 Sorento LX w/V6 a few months ago, and it was a definitely quieter, smoother riding, and faster SUV than this '16 Edge Titanium, and at a much lower price. The '16 EX & SX trim Sorentos are even quieter and ride about as well as the lower priced trim LX! Overall, a disappointment for a pricey SUV we really wanted to like. Back to the drawing board, Ford – Kia can get the job done with their Sorento, so, try again. You can do it!

first the throttle body seized up at 15,000 miles, now 26,000 miles the transmission is leaking. Also all the taillight assemblies on the vehicle are full of condensation. Not very happy with this $40,000 purchase with all these problems just a year later.

It is a very comfortable, roomy and stylish car.
The Edge has known transmission problems and can fail without warning
I purchased my 2023 Ford Edge expecting a reliable vehicle from a company I had trusted for years. Instead, at just 61,600 miles, my transmission completely failed! Now I am stuck making payments on a vehicle I cannot even drive until I can somehow come up with the thousands of dollars needed to replace the transmission. What makes this situation even more frustrating is that I have faithfully had all my regular maintenance and service performed at my Ford dealership. Not once was I advised that, because of reported transmission problems with the Ford Edge, I should consider having the transmission fluid completely flushed every 30,000 miles. Had I been informed of this potential issue and the recommended preventive maintenance, I absolutely would have taken steps to protect my investment! To add insult to injury, Kelley Blue Book rated the likelihood of a major repair on the 2023 Ford Edge between 60,000 and 72,000 miles as "Low Risk." So, guess who did not purchase the extended warranty! What a farce! My experience has been anything but low risk. I am equally disappointed in Ford Motor Company's handling of this situation. After years of brand loyalty, purchasing multiple Ford vehicles, and consistently using my dealership for maintenance and service, I expected Ford to stand behind its product. Instead, I am left with an enormous repair bill and a vehicle that is essentially useless. My advice to anyone considering or currently owning a Ford Edge: Don't - but if you do, BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY! Also, ask your dealership specifically about transmission problems and whether a complete transmission fluid flush every 30,000 miles is advisable. Do not assume that following your regular maintenance schedule will protect you from a catastrophic repair. (Note: regular maintenance schedule at all mileage points simply states: Inspect the automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with a dipstick). Consult your dealer for requirements. NO MENTION OF FLUSHING TRANSMISSION FLUID!) Check out Ford Edge Owners on Facebook and you will see the number of other Ford Edge owners who have also experienced transmission issues and complete failures. I loved my Ford Edge until this happened. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed how I feel about Ford Motor Company. Customer loyalty should mean something, and a transmission should last far longer than 61,600 miles!

Now 60,000 miles right rear fender scratched clean performs well. Regular dealer service. Housed in a garage. One owner is originalk
My titanium Edge has been my favorite car ever. I splurged on leather seating, cooled front seats, tow package, moon/sun roof. I get so many compliments anytime driving family or friends around. This AWD Edge handles highway traffic, rain, ice and snow with ease. First time taking a steep drive with ice and no chains handled like it was nothing (I did put Michelin cross climates on). I now live in the mountains so extra important in winters. It's a super comfortable AWD vehicle, not doing any 4x4ing but has pretty decent clearance. Only issue i have experienced is the tail gate had a issue with mechanism and warranty covered repair. Now it just sometimes lags and slow to raise. Otherwise a solid reliable vehicle hope it lasts well past it's 9th year come this fall 2026. Also mine is black and no signs of paint wear either. I did touch up the plastic trim after 7+ years that started to fade with cerakote trim coating and came back like brand new. I'm not ready to replace my Edge anytime soon (or ever).
Nicer than i thought! excellent pick-up, firm ride but smooth. A really nice car, does everything you would expect. i liked everything about it!
I purchased a 2024 Ford Edge based off reviews and size. The interior is nice and comfortable. The hatch space was the selling point for me. The transmission has been extremely disappointing. At 30,000 miles the rear differential had to be replaced. Starting at 39,000 the transmission started to shudder and jerk. Transmission was serviced. Now at 46,000 the transmission will still shudder and jerk but because it won’t produce a code Ford will not diagnose it. I can not drive the vehicle on the freeway or far distances because it will occasionally locked up.
Comfortable when it’s not getting repaired
Frequent visits to the dealership for repairs
I bought my 2024 SEL in October 2024 and so far it’s been in the shop about 10 weeks. I don’t recommend buying a 2024 Ford Edge due to torque converter and transmission issues, others have also reported rear differential issues
Do not buy this car! Engine failed at only 56,000 miles for coolant intrusion. This specific model had a design flaw on the Ecoboost Turbo engine. Ford did nothing to help. I will never own another Ford.
The vehicle has quirky electronics. Transmission not the most seamless unit I've ever experienced. Breaks tend t vibrate moderately.
