Positive Review
The Talon is a dang nice looking car, I constantly find myself looking back in a parking lot and admiring it, and I definitely feel that I get looks while driving it. It's a very well-styled car. Reliable as well, gets me where I need to go and at 26 mpg it isn't at all bad at the gas pump. The fact that it's so small means that it turns on a dime as well, and can fit in spaces normal vehicles never would, which makes for a fun time. However, it's more about style than performance. Acceleration is borderline pathetic, and I find myself having to stomp it to the floor to get it up hills. It also isn't a particularly comfortable car, there is very little legroom and I literally have to squeeze my legs under the steering wheel to get in. The backseat is absolutely laughable. However, the seat folds down and the cardboard divider attached to the hatch is removable, revealing a surprising amount of cargo room, I've managed to fit a bike in mine. Overall, it's a pretty fun little car. Not the most practical, but for someone that doesn't do a lot of driving and wants to look cool and not sacrifice MPG, it's excellent.
Critical Review
I've owned Talons (one 1992 and a 1997) for more than 10 years. The first generation (1G) greatly outweigh the experience I've had with the second generation (2G). For the most part, they are great little cars with a lot of get up and go. However, if you decide to buy one, be prepared to maintenance the vehicle religiously (every 3000 miles) and have frequent little issues that pop up. Also good car if you're mechanically inclined. Most parts are easy to replace. From my experience, the engine on the 2G's seems to start conking out at 90,000 miles. It starts having gasket issues at around 70,000 miles. I have to say though, this car has never left me stranded anywhere. If you are looking for a stylish, affordable, easy to modify car, this is the one for you. If you are looking for an everyday around town vehicle with reliability, you should probably steer away from the Talon.

this car looks too similar to a corvette, had this as a rental car, the 5 speed sucks but it had some smooth driving but overall trashy basically, so just cough up the extra money and get a corvette FYI
Very fun to drive

Personally, I love the car. Absolutely fun to drive. Sounds like a rice rocket, plenty of power, takes off quick. E-Brake is tight... Handles very well on a windy road
Very sporty. Hugs the road and curves. Goes in sno
Very uncomfortable. Cheap accessories
Bought my '97 Talon in 2000 with 28,000 miles. Sunroof first thing to break. Engine leaking a lot of oil next thing. 02 sensors. Ball joint broke, had to be towed. Stereo slowly stopped working. Stopped driving it in 2015, sometimes it will not start & no one knows why. I think it has something to do with the key reader. It will start every time for months & will not start for months. Since it's been sitting the rust has taken over & paint peeling away. I loved this car but selling it soon.

Fun to drive. Very good condition.
It is a sports coupe and has a somewhat harsh ride
I have owned about a dozen cars in my lifetime. This AWD Eagle Talon (I have owned since new) and a Honda Accord have been the most reliable cars I have owned. I have performed all the maintenance and upgrades myself (I own a machine shop and am an engineer. I have never used a mechanic--I have worked on all my cars for 48 years). I love this car, it is my Baby! It has been garaged all it's life. Even though it is 18 years old, it looks only a few years old.
fast, fun to drive, not hard to maintain, beautiful
mitsubishi guts:/ the clutch
i adore my 96 talon. its a beautiful car, it just has some minor issues. theres quite a bit of plastic parts, and the transmission isnt particularly amzing, but it gets me anywhere i need to go easily. but the suspension isnt made for michigan roads lol its very quick, very fun to drive and handles turns easily.
