Positive Review
I've had my 8-Ball Hornet GT with Cold Weather and Track Pack for almost a year now. When I saw it and sat in it I imagined it was a TIE fighter on wheels. I was not disappointed when I drove it. The 268 hp is a leader in it's class. No, you will not be dusting Camaros and Mustangs, that is what Charger and Challengers are for. As mentioned I have the Track Pack, and it is very nimble and quick on curvy roads. It is a more sophisticated and refined power than a typical Dodge. You can definitely see and feel the European influence. I know "True Mopar Guys" hate it, but this is a market segment Dodge needed to delve into and I think they did it very well. My wife and son each drive a Jeep Compass, the Hornet is much more fun to drive. I highly recommend it.
Critical Review

I have a 2024 hornet RT plus black top and track pack. This vehicle has muscle car acceleration with 3 times better gas mileage. I can drive electric mode for weeks to work. I do live close to work. I don’t fill up but once I month. Only because I like the gas electric acceleration. Very good tech. Never had any issues. 9/10
So frustrated with this vehicle!!! Worst decision I made, miss my Hyundai so much! Battery doesn't stay charged, radio switches all the time and dash lights go on and off whenever they want.
Powerful, fun to drive. We like to drive it even when we don't need to go anywhere. Not like a boring Toyota RAV4.
We have an early failure. Liftgate on our Trim package is not powered. Very complicated elecrtronics.
First of all, we didn't need Vehicle number 5. We have been following the Dodge Hornet since its release in 2023. It's an Alfa Romeo Tonale' with a Dodge front end. The GT is all gas, 2.0 Hurricane Engine and the R/T is a Hybrid with 31 miles Battery range, and a tiny 1.3 Multi-air Turbo FIAT Engine. The Hornet has heavily bolstered seats, and ours with the Blacktop/Track pack has low profile 20" wheels and adjustable shocks from the cockpit. The Hornet is a blast to drive. It handles great for a CUV, has lots of power and the R/T has a "launch mode". In "launch", they advertise a 0-60 MPH is 5.6 seconds. It is fast. For $46,615, since we don't have the R/T Plus or the Tech package, the Rear Liftgate is not powered. It is easy to open but not super easy to close as the lift struts are pretty powerful. A powered Lift-gate should be standard in this price range. The sheet metal on the Hornet is very thin. It may be a normal gauge but when you own an old SAAB like we do, those Cars have very thick metal. I someone apparently closed the Hood on the Hornet before we got it and dented it. So why 3 Stars? We got the Hornet in September of 2025 and here we are in early November and the Hornet is at the Dealer being repaired. It only has 582 miles on it. It had 92 miles when we got it. So what has failed is the Traction Batteries (EV) Charging System. The Car will not charge. And for some reason with the failed Hybrid Battery, we ran some errands on the ICE only and got 7.7 MPG! That is insane. So how many days will it be before we get our Hornet back? I guess the Hornet stung us. The positive note is "We leased (rented) it so we can give it back in a couple of years. Amen for that.
We purchased our hornet new. This car is very easy on gas, has some pickup. We purchased the 2024 GT Plus (not Hybrid). Has lots and lots of features, probably will never figure everything out. lol There was one recall on the computer screen, which was promptly repaired. Great car!
Love my new car. Very sporty and super fuel efficient. I always get asked what kind of car it is because it’s so unique. Haven’t had any issues yet.
Exciting power and surprisingly fun-to-drive performance. Plug-in hybrid efficiency dramatically lowers gas costs. Stylish desig
Less cargo space and cramped rear seats compared to rivals. Overpriced at its full MSRP; discounts are key to value. Reliability
Like many people, I was hesitant about the Dodge Hornet R/T. The internet is full of "Dodge loyalists" who can't stand that it's a rebadged Alfa Romeo Tonale and not a true muscle car, and I admit I was concerned about long-term reliability. But the deal I got—a staggering $24,000 under MSRP—was too good to pass up. Now, with over a year and 7,000 miles on the odometer, I can confidently say that rolling the dice has paid off completely. This car has been an absolute pleasure, with zero issues to date. The Hornet R/T is an impressive vehicle that balances performance with everyday efficiency. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a combined 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, is a game-changer. It's the most powerful compact crossover in its segment, and the acceleration is genuinely thrilling. The electric motor, which powers the rear axle, gives you immediate torque off the line, making city driving feel incredibly responsive. But the real magic is the plug-in hybrid system's impact on my lifestyle. With an EPA-rated all-electric range of about 33 miles, I've barely had to use the gas engine. I've only filled the tank twice in over 7,000 miles, as my daily trips are almost always less than 30 miles. It’s saved me a ton of money on gas, and the insurance rates are surprisingly reasonable, making it a win-win for my wallet. Beyond the powertrain, the Hornet R/T is packed with great features. The interior is modern and driver-focused, with a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen running the latest Uconnect 5 system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I also have the digital gauge cluster, which is crisp and customizable. The car is equipped with standard features like a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, making it a comfortable ride in any weather. The exterior is just as striking, with a bold, muscular stance that stands out from the crowd. I've received a lot of compliments on its sharp styling. Ultimately, I'm proof that you don't need to listen to the online noise. The Hornet R/T is a fantastic car in its own right—a stylish, powerful, and incredibly efficient daily driver. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend finding a dealer who is willing to offer a significant discount. Take it from a real owner: this is a great car, and it's a much more affordable way to get into a high-tech, high-performance compact SUV.
Long list of standard safety features and standard AWD
The standard 17 inch wheels are kind of a basic design but that’s really the only thing I’d change
I have had my 2024 Dodge Hornet GT for almost 2 years now and I could not be happier! I special ordered mine from the factory at my local dealership. I love the sporty muscle car design with the Italian flair in certain aspects. It is still unmistakably a Dodge. A few quirks here and there but the car has been great. Standard safety features are great, and the 268 horsepower is unheard of for the CUV segment. I would recommend it to anyone!
