In the 2022 model, Honda revisits some “timeless design concepts” from previous versions. These include a beltline, fenders, and hood that have all been lowered. They create a larger greenhouse with an improved outside view.
Inside, the Civic Touring Sedan is totally new with class-above attention to detail. Leather upholstery, digital gauges, a 9-inch infotainment system, and a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system all do their part adding to the vibe.
Power for the new Civic comes from a choice of two engines: The base engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. It mates to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The more powerful and efficient option is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder delivering 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Like the 2.0-liter, this engine also uses a CVT transmission.
The base Honda Civic LX sedan starts at $21,700, plus a $1,015 destination fee. It’s decently equipped with the 2.0-liter engine and automatic transmission, along with the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assist features that includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. Other features include a 7-inch touchscreen display, 160-watt 4-speaker audio system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
Four Honda Civic Sedan Trim Levels
The 2022 Honda Civic Sedan is available in four main trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring models. Buyers will find additional premium features as they climb the trim ladder to the Civic Touring sedan, which begins at $28,300.
We think most buyers will step up a trim level to the Honda Civic Sport sedan. Priced at $23,100, it adds features like leather-wrapped steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, and paddle shifters. If we were in the market, we would step up one more level to the Civic EX Sedan at $24,700. This move up includes Honda’s more powerful and efficient 1.5-liter turbo engine, Blind-Spot Information System, heated front seats, a one-touch power moonroof, and a 180-watt 8-speaker audio system.
