Which 2022 Genesis GV70 is Right for Me?

2022 Genesis GV70

Following on the heels of the midsize GV80 luxury SUV introduced for 2021, Genesis now introduces the smaller GV70 for 2022. Similar to its big brother, the GV70 gets two engine choices: a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder or a 3.5-liter turbo V6. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends the power to all four wheels, as there is no rear-wheel-drive option.

We love the looks of the GV80, and the GV70 is equally striking, with the brand’s signature diamond-pattern grille and twin light-bar motif. Sport models add larger wheels, dark chrome trim, and different fascias front and rear. There are also a wide variety of exterior colors to choose from, including red, green, blue, and Barossa Burgundy, a rich purple. The interior is more good news, with good space for both passengers and cargo, and a design that feels modern without being too gimmicky.

Despite a starting price of just $41,000, the GV70 is impressively equipped. The base model includes such standard features as full LED lights, heated front seats, a 12-way power driver seat, and 18-inch wheels. On the safety front, the 2022 GV70 has dynamic cruise control, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, blind-spot collision avoidance, and forward collision avoidance.

Seven Trim Levels

With two engine choices and all-wheel drive, the 2022 Genesis GV70 comes in seven trim levels. Four have the 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and three are equipped with the 3.5-liter turbo V6.

The base model is the 2.5T Standard. With an MSRP of $41,000 (not including destination), the Standard comes with lane-keeping assist, heated front seats, smart cruise control, and 18-inch alloy wheels, among other features. All prices add $1,045 in destination charges.

Next up is the 2.5T Select, with 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic roof, ventilated front seats, and a Lexicon 16-speaker audio system. The 2.5T Advanced adds leather seating, a surround-view monitor, a blind-spot monitor, and remote parking assist, which allows you to park the GV70 via a key fob while you’re standing outside it. The top 2.5T trim is called the Sport Prestige, which adds leather seating, 21-inch wheels, and a Sport appearance package.

Starting at $52,600, the 3.5T Standard is the first trim with the 375-horsepower 3.5-liter turbo V6. Riding on 19-inch alloys, it also includes Road Preview, which uses cameras to analyze the road ahead and adjust the suspension accordingly. Other features include leather seating and a panoramic roof.

Next is the 3.5T Advanced, with Nappa leather quilted seats, a suede headliner, and a Lexicon premium audio system. The topline model is the 3.5T Sport Prestige ($62,500), which gets 21-inch wheels, an electronic limited-slip differential, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and heated rear seats.

It’s a toss-up here between going with the loaded 4-cylinder model in the Sport Prestige or the base V6 standard.
