Which 2022 Genesis G70 is Right for me?

A relatively new player in the premium compact sedan class, the 2022 Genesis G70 is an impressive entry from the Korean automaker. Starting at $37,525 (plus $1,025 destination), the G70 significantly undercuts German competitors like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. For that money, you get a sophisticated sport sedan powered by a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. For 2022, the G70 benefits from a refresh that brings its styling in line with the larger G80 sedan.

Driving manners are impressive, with power going to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The G70 handles quite well, but not at the expense of ride comfort. Last year’s 6-speed manual availability has been dropped.

Inside, the driver is greeted by a 12-way power-adjustable seat in simulated leather upholstery. The front seats are both very comfortable and supportive, and there’s a new 10.25-inch touchscreen that handles infotainment duties, including standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. Backseat space is a bit snug, however, and the trunk’s 10.5 cubic feet is about average and has a small opening.

Also standard are loads of safety and driver-assistance features, and every Genesis includes not only 3 years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance, but a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Five Trim Levels

With standard rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive, the 2022 Genesis G70 offers a choice of a 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder or the twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6, the latter good for a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. Genesis offers five trim levels of G70: two 4-cylinder and three V6 models.

The trim progression starts with the 4-cylinder $37,525 2.0T and the $41,525 2.0T Prestige. The 3.3T Sport starts at $42,100, moves to the $46,400 3.3T Sport Advanced, and tops out at $50,400 for the 3.3T Sport Prestige. All-wheel drive costs an additional $2,100 and comes with heated front seats. Delivery is $1,025.

As part of the 2022 refresh, Genesis is also offering 500 special G70 Launch Edition models (250 with RWD, 250 with AWD). Based on the $44,200 V6 Sport AWD, the $10,300 package includes lightweight multi-spoke 19-inch wheels and a special matte paint finish in Verbier White or Melbourne Gray. The interior is either Obsidian Black or Sevilla Red leather.

The 3.3-liter Sport Advanced is worth a look at $46,300. Highlights include a sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, ventilated seats, a variable exhaust, the Genesis Digital Key, acoustic laminated front side glass, and a 15-speaker Lexicon premium audio system. This G70 Sport Advanced also gets dark chrome trim on its grille and around its side glass.
