Which 2021 Hyundai Palisade Is Right For Me?

2021 Hyundai Palisade

An impressive 3-row midsize SUV, the 2021 Hyundai Palisade offers seating for eight, or seven when equipped with 2nd-row captain’s chairs. The sole engine choice is a 3.8-liter V6 connected to an 8-speed automatic. It provides sufficient power to keep the Palisade moving, although it may be overmatched when the Palisade is full and towing its maximum of 5,000 pounds.

The Palisade rides comfortably and accelerates well. It’s not exactly a thrill ride, but most people shopping for an 8-passenger SUV are not looking for that. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option on all trims except the top Calligraphy, on which it is standard. There are also different driving modes, including Snow for models equipped with all-wheel drive.

Practically speaking, the Palisade offers good comfort for adult passengers, even in the third row, and a useful 18 cubic feet of storage that can expand to 86.4 cubic feet with all rows folded.

Standard features are plentiful and include a number of safety systems such as lane-keeping assistance, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and seven airbags.

Numerous options include such things as satellite radio, a 12-speaker/630-watt Harman Kardon audio system, and a 12.3-inch digital driver information cluster. As with all Hyundai models, the 2021 Palisade includes a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Four Trim Levels

With one engine choice, the four trim levels add luxury and technology touches. Prices range from $35,525 for the base SE model to $48,890 for the top Calligraphy trim, which includes all-wheel drive. Trims without all-wheel drive can add it for an extra $1,700. Destination charges add another $1,140.

Other than the safety features mentioned above, the base SE trim is well equipped, with one-touch sliding 2nd-row seats, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, LED headlights, keyless ignition and entry, an 8-inch infotainment display, and adaptive cruise control.

The next trim up is the SEL for an extra $2,650. It includes heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, power sunroof, the option of second-row captain’s chairs, and dual-zone automatic climate control. It also opens the door for the Convenience and Premium packages, which add many of the features of the higher trims, including wireless charging, a self-leveling rear suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a 115-volt outlet. Above that is the Limited, but its starting price jumps to $45,275.
