The 2026 Kia Sorento has been a tried-and-true model for the brand’s SUV lineup, serving as one of America’s most affordable 3-row SUVs. There aren’t any noticeable updates to the 2026 Sorento, but it still retains a modern feel from its most recent refresh in 2024. It remains the practical and safe ride that drivers have grown accustomed to.
Let’s get inside for a deeper look.
Sorento Passenger Room and Comfort

The Kia Sorento has standard 3-row seating for up to seven people. When you opt for second-row captain’s chairs, the seating capacity goes down to six. The second row offers generous, adult-friendly space with 41.7 inches of legroom, and the available captain’s chairs make the second row more comfortable while also making the third row easier to access. The third row is a little tight with 29.6 inches of legroom, but it’s good enough for young kids and occasional adult use.
Sorento Cargo Room and Flexibility

Although classified as a midsize 3-row SUV, the Kia Sorento is on the smaller side of its class. In the Kia lineup, it’s positioned between the compact Sportage and the bigger Telluride. Cargo space is tight when all three rows of seats are in place; there’s only 12.6 cubic feet of room behind the third row. However, cargo space is ample if you won’t use that third row very often. The Sorento has up to 45 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 75.5 cubic feet behind the first row. It is a good thing that configuring the third row is versatile for your driving and stowing needs.
Sorento Features and Tech

The Sorento is well-equipped with a modern interior, featuring 12.3-inch dual panoramic displays in the SX trim and above for easy vehicle management. Crank up the music with the optional Bose premium audio system, which comes in the top trims. The fully digital rearview mirror features a rear-mounted camera that provides an unobstructed, wide-angle video feed on the integrated screen, offering drivers a clear view of the road behind. This is handy for when the Sorento is full of passengers.
The Sorento’s comfortable cockpit is upgradable to include heated/ventilated seats, 8-, 10-, or 14-way power seat adjustments, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof with a sunshade. If your family or friends need to recharge their phones or tablets, the Sorento features charging ports in all three rows. The EX trim and above features a Smart Power Tailgate for hands-free opening and closing. This function adds considerable convenience to loading and unloading the cargo area.
Sorento Materials and Design

The base LX model is the only trim level of the Kia Sorento that comes with cloth seats, which come exclusively in black. Most trims come with Kia’s SynTex faux leather upholstery, available in black or gray. The top SX Prestige models feature authentic leather seating in black or Olive Brown, along with a SynTex suede headliner. The SX Prestige models also feature open-pore wood interior trim, giving them a more luxurious feel.
Most of the controls in the Sorento are pretty intuitive and user-friendly, but not everyone likes the HVAC controls. There’s a bank of controls under the infotainment screen with two knobs that control both the audio system and the climate control, depending on what mode those controls are in. You get used to it after a while, but we’ve caught ourselves turning up the heat when we meant to turn up the radio.
