The 2024 Kia Seltos is a value-packed subcompact SUV with room for five passengers and a surprising amount of cargo room. Freshly updated for 2024, the Seltos squares off against competitors such as the Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Subaru Crosstrek, and Hyundai Kona. Starting at $24,390, excluding a $1,325 destination fee, five trims are available: LX, S, EX, X-Line, and SX.
As a reigning Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award champion, the Seltos has proven to be a comfortable, capable, and efficient choice in a highly competitive segment. The 2024 Seltos benefits from upgraded interior technology, including an expansive digital instrument display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen.
It also gets a boost in performance, courtesy of an optional 195-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine coupled to a more refined automatic transmission. The base powertrain consists of a 146-horsepower 4-cylinder engine that returns an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in city driving and 34 mpg on the highway. Front-wheel drive is standard on the S and EX; all-wheel drive is fitted to the LX, X-Line, and SX trims.

Passenger Room and Comfort
Space, and lots of it. That’s the easy way to summarize the passenger room in the 2024 Kia Seltos. Its square-shaped exterior hints that headroom is abundant no matter where you’re seated. Better still, 38 inches of rear legroom betters many direct rivals and equals a number of larger compact SUVs.
The suspension is tuned for comfort, which is what you expect in a small SUV. Yet the Seltos is nimble and lively, easy to drive in city traffic, and even the base 4-cylinder provides reasonable pep for daily errands. Cloth seating upholstery and manually adjustable front seats are standard. Options include synthetic leather upholstery (standard on the S trim, one up from the base LX), heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and ambient interior lighting.
Features and Tech
Newly added for the 2024 model year is a 10.25-inch instrument display and infotainment touchscreen that span much of the dashboard. Only the base LX trim is fitted with an 8-inch touchscreen, which, to be fair, is perfectly fine in how it looks and operates.
But it’s the new system that gives the 2024 Seltos a truly premium feel. Smartphone connectivity is standard, as are three USB ports, Bluetooth, and a 6-speaker stereo. Notable options consist of wireless device charging, satellite radio, onboard Wi-Fi, navigation, and a Bose audio system. The latter even includes mood lighting to match the rhythm of your favorite tunes.
Materials and Design
We’ve already mentioned the roominess of the interior. Now it’s time to heap praise on the quality trim pieces Kia has included in this budget-minded SUV. Typically, you’d expect some cost-cutting to be evident here and there. Not so in the Seltos, which is kitted out with robust trim that feels capable of withstanding many miles of driving duty.
Another notable new addition for the 2024 model year is the X-Line trim. While it’s essentially the same as the regular Seltos in terms of its mechanical layout, it has an outdoorsy theme and comes with all-wheel drive. The Seltos X-Line also comes with a gunmetal-gray front grille, gloss black exterior trim, roof rails, and underbody skid plates. It’s a slightly rugged take on what’s admittedly a small SUV more tuned to adventures on paved roads.
Cargo Room and Flexibility
Behind the split-folding rear seatback is an impressive 26.6 cubic feet of cargo volume. This bests almost every other subcompact SUV, including the Honda HR-V and Subaru Crosstrek. With the rear seat folded, volume increases to nearly 63 cubic feet. A low load floor means getting things in or out of the Seltos is kind to your shoulder and back muscles, too.
A manual liftgate is standard, though a hands-free, power-operated one is available on the SX.
