The Audi Q8 e-tron comes into 2024 with a few important updates. The most obvious is that Q8 was added to the name to differentiate between models in Audi’s rapidly growing fully electric lineup, all of which get the e-tron moniker. Other improvements are aimed at sprucing up driving dynamics, extending the driving range, and speeding up battery charging.
New styling updates, an active grille shutter, and front air curtains streamline the front end for better aerodynamics. That helps with both wind noise and energy efficiency. The wheel designs are fresh, and Audi improved the steering and suspension for more confidence behind the wheel. All Q8 e-tron models have e-quattro, an electric version of Audi’s famous all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
Every Q8 e-tron comes with a larger new 114-kWh battery and two years of free charging on the Electrify America network. You won’t even need your phone to initiate charging — the charger can identify the Q8 e-tron just by plugging it in. The EPA estimates a 285-mile range with the standard SUV model, while the pricier Sportback version can travel up to 300 miles on a charge. That’s an increase of more than 60 miles from the previous year. For those who crave more excitement than the regular model’s 402 peak horsepower, in exchange for less range, there’s an SQ8 model with 496 hp and up to 253 miles of range.
Let’s take a look inside the 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron.
Passenger Room and Comfort
The Q8 e-tron gives occupants plenty of reasons to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Comfortable 8-way-adjustable, heated front seats are standard, and the driver’s seat has 4-way power lumbar adjustment. The top Prestige trim features ventilated and heated front seats with an astounding 18 directions of adjustment, plus a decadent massage function. Front passenger lumbar and heated rear seats are also included on the Prestige.
All models come with 4-zone climate control and a touchscreen in the rear so backseat passengers can adjust their settings.
Rear-seat legroom is a generous 39.1 inches in both Q8 e-tron body styles. The sloped roof of the Sportback only shaves about an inch of headroom off what the traditional SUV offers, 37.9 inches versus 39.
An adaptive air suspension provides a smooth ride that’s not too stiff and not too soft.
Features and Technology
An SUV of this caliber is sure to be packed with goodies, and the Q8 e-tron is no exception. Audi’s impressive virtual cockpit configurable driver information display measures 12.3 inches. The center console is stacked with two more large screens for infotainment and climate controls, and all three have sharp, attractive graphics. The included built-in navigation system can chart drive routes with appropriate stops at charging stations when necessary. That’s an especially handy feature to have in an electric vehicle on road trips.
Get the midgrade Q8 e-tron Premium Plus and enjoy incredible 3D sound quality from a Bang & Olufsen sound system. That trim also includes a 360-degree top-view camera system and the Audi phone box, an innovative phone holder that boosts cell signal and charges wirelessly.
Materials and Design
The 2024 Q8 e-tron is a fine example of Audi’s first-class interiors. The design, quality, and feel of everything are befitting of its price tag. The genuine leather seat upholstery is stitched with unique patterns, giving the interior a little something extra. Natural wood trim on the dash further elevates the premium atmosphere. The more expensive models feature true luxuries like ultra-quiet dual-pane side windows, rear side sunshades, and real leather on the dash and console. There’s no telling who needs these, but there are even optional illuminated seat belt buckles.
Cargo Room and Flexibility
Packing batteries neatly beneath the fully electric Q8 e-tron allows for a totally flat interior floor, which makes the most of storage and cargo possibilities. The SUV has an ample 28.5 cubic feet behind the back seats, enough to swallow eight carry-on suitcases. The space almost doubles to 56.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Belying its svelte coupe looks, the Sportback keeps 27.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 54.5 cubic feet after folding them down.
