The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe is still basking in the glow of a complete makeover last year. The all-new Toyota Crown Signia is the SUV version of the Toyota Crown sedan, which debuted in 2023. It essentially takes the place of the Venza in the automaker’s lineup.

If you want something fresh and new, it’s time to check out the Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Crown Signia.

Last year, the Santa Fe rolled out with a boxy new design reminiscent of a vehicle from the much pricier Land Rover brand. The new model is longer, taller, and wider than its predecessor, which allows for a bigger cabin.

The Santa Fe has three rows of seats standard, allowing seating for up to seven. The exception is the Calligraphy trim, which features captain’s chairs in the second row, reducing seating to six passengers.

The cabin features a new Panoramic Curved Display, which integrates the digital gauge cluster and the infotainment screen into one cohesive display. The Santa Fe is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, putting out 277 horsepower. A hybrid model is available, and all-wheel drive (AWD), is available with either powertrain.

Hyundai Santa Fe Highlights

Highway Driving Assist: Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist combines various technologies, including adaptive cruise control and lane centering, to make highway driving safer and easier. It’s available in two versions, including Highway Driving Assist 2 on the Calligraphy models, adding functionality like lane-change assist.

Digital payments: Using the expanded Hyundai Pay system, you can pay for parking or gas while remaining inside the vehicle. Not only does it keep you from offering up your credit card in public view, but it can also help bypass card skimmers.

Easy access: The Santa Fe comes with a built-in grab handle near the rear wheel, allowing users easier access to the SUV’s roof. It remains flush with the side of the vehicle until you push it in and use it. It’s also lockable to prevent others from using it.

2025 Toyota Crown Signia

While the Venza hybrid SUV it replaces was a fine vehicle, that model lacked the unique exterior styling of the new Crown Signia. This new SUV builds on the Crown sedan’s design but leans a little toward the conventional side.

Once inside thia SUV, you’ll find a spacious, comfortable, premium interior complete with the latest technology. It is anchored by two 12.3-inch touchscreens: one for the driver and one in the center for the infotainment functions in the vehicle.

To make things easy for buyers, the Crown Signia comes in just two trim levels, XLE Hybrid and Limited Hybrid. There is only one powertrain choice, a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder hybrid with three electric motors producing 240 hp. All-wheel drive is standard.

Toyota Crown Signia Highlights

Proactive safety: The Crown Signia features a fabulous system called Proactive Driving Assist. It uses a combination of cameras and radar to analyze the vehicle’s surroundings and provides subtle steering and braking inputs to make for a safer drive.

Great sounds: The top-line version boasts an 11-speaker JBL audio system. Of course, if you’re looking for a way to get the music for this system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard equipment.

Gas sipper: With outstanding fuel economy for a midsize SUV at 39 city/37 highway/38 combined, you’ll spend less on gas. It beats the Santa Fe Hybrid, which comes in at 36 mpg combined.

Conclusion

Both of these SUVs are compelling choices with strong feature sets. If you’re looking for a 3-row family hauler that is bigger than a compact SUV yet not quite a midsize, the Santa Fe is alluring and the less-expensive choice here. The Toyota Crown Signia, meanwhile, is a 2-row SUV that looks unlike anything else, has a premium aura, and comes standard with a fuel-sipping yet potent hybrid powertrain.
