2025 Genesis GV70 vs. 2025 Infiniti QX55 Comparison

The compact luxury SUV market is bursting with impressive choices. Among the many competing models in this busy segment are the 2025 Genesis GV70 and Infiniti QX55.

Beneath their shapely sheet metal, they each deliver the degree of comfort, tech, and safety aids car shoppers demand when paying for a premium product.

This generation of GV70 launched for the 2022 model year, so it still looks and feels fresh. Updates to the 2025 are few, the most notable being the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Infiniti QX55 is based on the more squared-off QX50 and, like the GV70, first appeared as a 2022 model. It carries over into 2025 with no changes.

To see how they compare, let’s check out the highlights of the Genesis GV70 and Infiniti QX55.

Standard features on the GV70 are plentiful and include synthetic leather seating surfaces, remote start, a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless device charging, navigation, satellite radio, and more. There is also a fully electric version called the Electrified GV70, though we review it separately.

Genesis GV70 Highlights

Performance: While we’re going to sidestep the electric-powered version of the Genesis GV70, the performance of the entry-level turbo 4-cylinder engine feels pretty electrifying, too. This drivetrain is one of the strongest base offerings among compact luxury SUVs. There is also the option to upgrade to the 3.5T model. It comes with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that produces 375 horsepower. Hit the gas pedal, and you’ll need only about 5.0 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 mph.

Lexicon audio: Music fans would be smart to consider ticking the option box for the available Lexicon surround-sound stereo. This 16-speaker system has 1,050 watts of power and terrific clarity and quality. It’s available in both the 2.5T and 3.5T models.

Class-leading warranty: Genesis has GV70 drivers covered. It comes with a 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty plus 10 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage. Three years or 36,000 miles of scheduled maintenance and five years of roadside assistance are also included.

Safety scores: The Genesis GV70 earns the highest rating of Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a 5-Star rating from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The 2025 Infiniti QX55 comes in three trims: Luxe, Essential, and Sensory. All versions of the QX55 come with a 268-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder that sends power to all four wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This model is what you might call an SUV “coupe,” given its sloping roofline and sporty profile.

Infiniti QX55 Highlights

Stylish wrapper: We think the Infiniti QX55 has one of the sportier shapes among similarly-sized luxury SUVs. True, this is basically a QX50 with a truncated tail. Yet the result looks muscular and stylish. Better still, the added design bravado doesn’t dramatically impact the rear passenger room or cargo space; it has almost as much cargo room as the Genesis GV70.

ProPilot Plus: This is an adaptive cruise control system with lane centering and stop/go capability. While it’s not a hands-free driving system like some others, we’ve found it does a fine job of minimizing fatigue during long drives. It comes as standard.

Adjustable rear seats: The sliding and reclining rear seat allows a QX55 owner to free up additional headroom or legroom as needed. This feature is fantastic for anyone who routinely travels with a full complement of taller adults.

Surround-view parking camera: The QX55’s standard 360-degree parking camera makes maneuvering easier. The overhead angle lets you park this SUV confidently. It should also help keep the standard 20-inch alloy wheels looking good and free from curb-induced scratches.

Conclusion

This is another closely fought battle between two worthy luxury SUVs. Where the Infiniti QX55 stumbles slightly is in the engine drone created by its CVT during hard acceleration. The infotainment system is also beginning to look dated compared to newer rivals — blame the fact that the QX50, upon which the QX55 is based, hails back to the 2019 model year. Peppy driving dynamics, a world-class cabin, and that killer warranty give the Genesis GV70 the win.
