2024 Acura ZDX vs. 2024 Genesis GV70 Comparison

The all-new 2024 Acura ZDX is a fresh take on electric luxury for Acura, but how does it compare to the 2024 Genesis Electrified GV70, itself a luxury crossover EV just introduced for the 2023 model year? That’s what we’re here to find out.

It’s true, the ZDX and GV70 are both stylish, with their own flavor — the Acura is crisp and futuristic, while the GV70 is the more organic, sculpted type — but there’s more going on than meets the eye. Let’s dig into it.

2024 Acura ZDX

The ZDX range starts out with the $65,850 (including destination fees) A-Spec, the rear-wheel drive (RWD), 358-horsepower version that also gets the most range at 313 miles. Add dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) to bump the A-Spec’s output to 490 hp and 437 lb-ft of torque and you still get 304 miles of range. At the top of the ZDX heap is the $74,850-and-up Type S, a 499-hp, 544-lb-ft performance-focused variant that hits 60 mph from a standstill in less than three seconds.

Acura ZDX Highlights

  • Up to 313 miles of range: The base model gets the most range, but the dual-motor AWD A-Spec is the best mix of range and power. Despite being the most expensive, the Type S gets the lowest range, but that’s a sacrifice made in the name of speed.
  • Available hands-free driving: Because the ZDX is built on a platform developed in partnership with General Motors, the ZDX is available with Hands-Free Cruise, based on Super Cruise. This is game-changing technology for those with commutes covered by the 400,000-plus miles of compatible roads.
  • High-performance Type S model: Although the dual-motor A-Spec is nearly as powerful, the Type S’s extra torque adds even more smile-inducing acceleration. The adaptive air suspension makes it comfortable and capable, and Brembo brakes give it authoritative stopping power.

2024 Genesis Electrified GV70

The Electrified GV70’s trim and powertrain configuration are much simpler than with the ZDX. There are just two trims, the Advanced and the Prestige, the latter of which gains Nappa leather, a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument cluster, head-up display, and other tech features. Whichever variant you choose, dual-motor AWD and 429-hp output are standard. A boost function can take output up to 483 hp for 10 seconds. Zero-to-60 time is around four seconds. The GV70 starts at $67,800, including the factory-to-dealer destination fee.

Genesis Electrified GV70 Highlights

  • Fast charging: Thanks to its high-voltage battery system, the Electrified GV70 can take advantage of DC fast charging up to and beyond 350kW. That means it can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes.
  • Loaded with equipment: You might think having just two trim levels means the Advance trim is the base model, but in fact, the Electrified GV70 doesn’t have many boxes to tick simply because there aren’t many options left. In addition to AWD, the standard equipment includes wireless phone charging, a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, and extensive active safety features — on top of leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, 20-inch wheels, and power everything.
  • Very well-rounded: Although the Electrified GV70’s 236-mile range comes up a bit short of the ZDX, that’s still plenty of range for most drivers, and the standard dual-motor AWD and healthy power output make it a fun choice, too. Throw in the abundant standard and available tech, and you have a do-it-all luxury vehicle for a range of families and lifestyles.

Similarities

Both the ZDX and the Electrified GV70 are comfortable, stylish, quick, and feature-packed electric SUVs. Both offer about the same cargo and seating space, and they start at about the same price.

Conclusion

The ZDX’s slightly lower entry price, longer range, and higher-performance models give it the edge on paper, but as with many things in life, you may find the Genesis simply suits your tastes better. If you have a long commute, or simply one you’d rather not deal with, the ZDX’s available hands-free driver assist system is definitely worth a look — and it’s standard on Type S models.
