2025 Acura ADX: Who Is This Car For?

2025 Acura ADX in blue parked by trees.

The all-new Acura ADX finally gives Honda’s premium brand an entry-level offering to compete with the likes of the BMW X1, Volvo XC40, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi A3, and Lexus UX. However, it does so at a lower price point than much of its competition while offering more passenger room and cargo space than that group, a bonus in the subcompact segment. This has been one of the fastest-growing vehicle classes in the industry for several years now. Prior to the arrival of the ADX, Acura had been nothing but a bystander for more than a decade. The ADX is really a gateway vehicle for younger buyers looking to move into a premium subcompact SUV.

Acura has smartly folded the new ADX right into the styling and performance lineup with its larger siblings, the MDX and RDX. The ADX also borrows a proven winner when it comes to powertrains: a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder similar to the one in the popular Integra sedan. It produces 190 horsepower with plenty of low-end torque. It lags the BMW X1 in terms of ponies, but it offers a sport-tuned suspension and four driving modes that should make it loads of fun through your local twisties. It’s also competitive when it comes to fuel economy, netting 28 mpg combined in front-wheel drive (FWD) or 27 mpg combined for the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant. That’s near the top of its class.

You’ll find a similar story moving into the cabin, as it offers more interior space than much of the segment, including 24.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and 55.1 cubic feet when they’re folded flat. It’s loaded with the latest advanced driver assistance technology, and audiophiles even get the chance to indulge themselves with an available 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
