2025 Ford F-150 Lightning

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning offers a choice of two battery pack sizes and comes standard with all-wheel drive (AWD). The standard drivetrain is a 452-hp dual-motor electric powertrain, while the extended-range battery pushes output to 580 hp. Both variants provide 775 lb-ft of torque. As for range, it manages between 240 miles and 320 miles on a full charge, depending on the configuration.

While Ford gives you the option of building entry-level Pro (work truck) trim, for regular retail buyers like you and me, the XLT model is realistically the Lightning’s entry point.

Proven track record: Ford’s enviable record for building hard-working trucks works in favor of the Lightning. There is a reason the gas-powered F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for more than four decades, which also bodes well for resale values down the road. 

BlueCruise: Consider this Ford’s version of GM’s Super Cruise system, which is available on the GMC Hummer EV. BlueCruise covers more than 130,000 miles of roads throughout North America. While that’s not as extensive as Super Cruise, we’ve come away impressed by the smooth operation of this hands-free driving aid.

Pro Power Onboard: There are up to 11 power outlets throughout the truck. In addition to the four 120-volt outlets, USB-C, and USB-A that you’ll find in the 14.1 cubic-foot frunk (front trunk) and the outlets inside the cab, there is a 240-volt outlet in the bed that can power your tools and appliances, turning the F-150 Lightning into a portable generator.
