Positive Review
Bought the equinox 4 months ago and am so happy I did. Above my expectations.
Critical Review
The 2025 Equinox uses the same engine from the previous generation. The engine has the lowest horsepower and poorest fuel economy in the small SUV class.

Comfortable seats with plenty of room to move around in. It cranks every time, even when I haven't cranked it for a few weeks.
Its engine is a bit small, causing the gas mileage to not be ideal. Didn't like having an oil leak on a brand new car.
I had a Toyota SUV before, but it was totaled. The handling for it was nice, but the Equinox 26 is far more comfortable. I'm 6'2", and there's plenty of room for me to get around in. I did a lot of shopping around and the options that came with it couldn't be beaten for the price. I've had it a little less than a year, but I've only driven it around 2500 miles. I got the CVT transmission and it has been extremely smooth in shifting gears due to it's design. The engine is small, which likely contributes to the bad gas mileage some people report getting. I live in a rural area and get about 32 mpg on average with me going light on the gas pedal. When I'm on the interstate, I get around 35 mpg, up to my max of almost 38 mpg. I use the adaptive cruise control as much as possible and not speeding up hard or braking much. The engine has a nice little hum to it and isn't loud. It gets up to speed fast enough, when I need it. I can even spin the tires a bit, if I try to take off too fast. I didn't have any problems with the sound system, but I went in and fiddled with all the settings in the very beginning. This might help some people out who are having sound issues. The only problem I've had with mine was a very small oil leak, which is likely due to me not getting the oil changed soon enough. I believe they said the oil plug gasket was being replaced just in case, and it hasn't leaked since. For now, I'd still get the car again. Here's to hoping I don't get some of the issues others have.
Nice looking car
Looks can be deceiving
Only 2400 miles an i c all the horror stories online about this vehicle so im going to get rid of it before mine becomes part of the story
This is our fifth Equinox and Chevy to us has outdone themselves.. We traded in a 2023 Equinox, hated the transmission so we went with a AWD to get the 8 speed transmission.. It can be a challenge to drive while being fun with all the safety features and LED dash and lighting, especially the adaptive cruise for one.. Would like to see more color in the interiors..
Nice size
Less power than our Traverse
We got our 2026 Equinox last December 30. We both love the suv. We had a Treverse and decided get a smaller suv. We are very happy with our Equinox. It is great to have a smaller suv.
I brought this car brand new in April of 2025. They sunroof would not close after you would open it. I fought with chevrolet for 6 months and finally got the motor repaired. Soon after that a telematics module failed. I wanted for a rental car for over a month. I never got one even though I purchased a higher warranty on top of the factory warranty. I dropped the car off just to be told they would not get the part to fix it. I lost money but traded it in that weekend. I have never been happier getting away from a car in my life. Terrible experience.
Good reliable car. Not the highest horse power but it’s a mid size not a sports car. I do my own maintenance and it’s cheap and easy.
Only had the car for less than 3 mths. Under 3k driven. I get back from the holidays and the back hatch door won't open. Tried all 3 methods of opening, but no luck. Tried with car on and off. Service has told me that I have to leave the car with them for the day!!! That they'll probably have to take the panel off. Sigh. I've had Subaru Foresters (2) for the last 30 years. Never had ANY service issues. Only one recall and that was for an airbag nossle issue that was indistry wide.Maybe my choice was a bad one..but the seats in the Equinox were more comfortable than the 25/26 Foresters. :-(
Save your money and get something that is worth your money! I’m not kidding. First issue I had around the 3rd month I driving in town when the car went limp mode. My fuel pump was busted. Got it repaired. 2 months later, I was traveling on a busy CA Highway going 80, when it started going into limp mode again! I thought I was going to die! Not kidding! It wouldn’t let me go over a certain mileage. Managed to pull over on the shoulder. THANK YOU JESUS I’m getting rid of this nightmare. Oh and by far the absolute worst on gas mileage! Save your money people! DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!
