I have been completely satisfied with my Equinox. I now have 15 months of driving, approx 23k miles. Runs great, zero problems. I love the interior styling of this vehicle. I have the LT1 level, I now wish I had upgraded to the LT2 or LTZ level (I am really a cheapskate when buying a car). I use in business (real estate), with lots of peeps in the car. Most of the time I use as mini office, lunch room, etc, so interior comfort is really important for me. Clean up of interior has been great, I forget name of cleaner I use, but I hit the interior with spray bottle and cloth every couple of months... looks like new again. I have a choice of vehicle to drive every day, I pick the Equinox over my 2005 Mercedes C230 every day. Let my kid drive the other one, I prefer the great gas milage, height on road to see over other cars, and the R O O M inside. Recommend you place the Equinox on your buy list.
Critical Review
i bought this car brand new in feb. 2011. it started off nice, a little concerned about mpg. i usually always average 24mpg so not too bad. well now one year later i am so scared that vehicle is not going to last 5 years. it rattles bad all over, it has been in the shop 3 or 4 times, once because the engine light came on, the cause, engine misfiring! the transmission slips then slams into gear. i have told the dealer about this and their reply is "ya that six speed trans can make it feel a little funny". seriously! i'm 36 and have driven all types if vehicles, i'm pretty sure i can tell that this transmission is not right. steering wheel was sticking so they put in a new rack. i guess they thought it ok to give it back with the steering wheel cocked to the left. hmm! now steering is clicking. not too happy at this point. i love the looks and dont want to have to give it up but enough already. fix the problems GM. also on start up the engine sounds as though its going to fall out with all the clanking. but in 2 seconds sound is gone. idk.

Burn oil like a mf, bum a car. I literally have to keep oil in the trunk. Whenever I check the oil after 300 miles, its bone dry. Doing your own maintenence is also impossible, changing oil yourself is a pain. The filter is cartridge style ontop of the engine that needs a 32 mm wrench, but has less than a foot and a half of clearance to get to.
I bought a 12 and had nothing but problems. It needed a new engine because of bad seals and a new transmission because the tork converter wasn't working properly. The dealership wound up trading me for a 17. Has the same problem with the transmission that the first one had.

This car has been in my family since it was brand new off the lot, and while I love the memories baked into the (inexplicably) eggshell colored seats, I had to say goodbye today. This car has cost THOUSANDS in repairs, and it’s most recent prognosis was over 10k to get the car in some semblance of a functioning order. The cars ABS is completely shot, leaks oil by the gallon, and it’s timing belt is hanging on for dear life. While I love the spacious interior, the mechanical issues were making the car dangerous to drive in. The car handled like a truck (i.e. you get the privilege to feel every single pebble on the road) and had horrible acceleration. While I’m sad to part ways with my beloved Cthulhu, I cannot in good conscience recommend this car to any person.
Drives well and transmission seem to be good and I just bought it at 125,000 miles. I think I’m good to go.
Good sound quality, comfort, and gas mileage
no music bluetooth, just for calls
It is very smooth down the road and gas mileage is amazing, one thing I don't like about it, is that it has wireless Bluetooth for phone calls and Siri, but not for music.
I ha b e had my car for several years, spent $2000 plus on it and it still a piece of junk. 5 mechanics and still shutting off at stop signs and engine losses power. Will never own another chevy
very little mechanical issues, drives very smoothly
no rear air, can be a bit loud
We've had our 2012 Equinox since 2013 and have had very little issues. We drove it from California to Florida when we moved and had no problems. Wish Equinox came in a hybrid!
