PRACTICAL, DEPENDABLE, ALL-WHEEL DRIVE, NO-ACCIDENT, NONSMOKER, ADVENTURE-READY VERSATILITY! The 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5 X Premium is the kind of vehicle people keep recommending to friends, and this Steel Silver Metallic example makes the case with a clean CARFAX accident history, a long run of documented service, and just 91,028 miles on the odometer. That works out to about 5,000 miles per year since its mid-2008 start, which is gentle use for a 17-year-old crossover. Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard on every Forester, and it is the reason so many northeast drivers choose one. Power goes to all four wheels all the time, which means confident traction on wet roads, snowy hills, and gravel driveways without any buttons to push. Add a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a roomy wagon-style cabin, and you have a practical daily driver that is ready for the weekend. Why Shoppers Buy This Model The Forester has long been the thinking buyer's alternative to a conventional small SUV. It sits lower than a truck-based SUV, so getting in and out is easy, and it has a tall roofline and big windows that make the cabin feel open and give the driver a clear view of the road. Standard all-wheel drive, generous ground clearance, and car-like handling make it equally at home on a commute and on a snowy trip to a ski area. Shoppers who cross-shop the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 tend to choose the Forester when traction and everyday usability matter most. The redesigned 2009 model brought a more modern look, a roomier rear seat, and a more refined ride, while keeping the practical, no-nonsense character that Forester owners value. Automotive Press and Industry Recognition The 2009 Forester earned an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK award, with good ratings in the Institute's front, side, and rear crash tests, and it was named to the Parents and Edmunds BEST FAMILY CARS list for 2009, a selection that weighed safety, performance, and family-friendly features. NHTSA's own crash testing was also strong, with five-star crash ratings and a four-star rollover rating. Reviewers also highlighted the roomy rear seat, easy child-seat installation, and good packaging for its size. Full Metal Autos praised the attractive, modern exterior and the fuel economy it saw in mixed driving, and noted that the sunroof gives the cabin an open, airy feel. Warranty The odometer currently reads 91,028 miles. The original factory coverage, measured from an estimated in-service date of June 2008, has expired. At about 5,000 miles per year, this Forester has been driven far less than the typical vehicle of its age, and CARFAX shows the maintenance to match: 28 service records, mostly performed by Subaru dealerships. Highlights include spark plugs, brake fluid, and differential fluid service in April 2023 at about 60,000 miles, and an oil and filter change with a brake check in October 2026. Extended service plans may be available for buyers who want added peace of mind. Standard Features The 2.5 X Premium trim adds the equipment that makes the Forester feel like a step up. A panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with light, 17-inch aluminum wheels give it a more finished look, privacy glass adds comfort for rear riders, and steering wheel audio controls keep your hands where they belong. Chrome door handles complete a more polished appearance. Mechanical Features A 2.5L horizontally opposed four-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine produces 170 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Because the cylinders lie flat, the engine sits low in the chassis, which helps balance and keeps handling steady. The 4-speed automatic transmission keeps things simple, and the EPA rates this Forester at 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and about 8.7 inches of ground clearance give the Forester a level of all-weather confidence that few small crossovers can match. Rain, snow>
