The 2017 Subaru BRZ Premium stands out as a top pick among sports coupes, especially when compared to rivals like the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Ford Mustang. Its primary advantages include a balanced rear-wheel-drive chassis, sharp steering, and a standard feature set that typically costs extra on competitors. This coupe is purpose-built for enthusiasts who seek responsive handling and an engaging manual driving experience, making it a smart choice for those cross-shopping within the segment. Shoppers evaluating several coupes will find the BRZ Premium ideal for drivers who prioritize road feel and connection over brute power. Its close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, paired with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, appeals to those who want to experience every shift and corner. For commuters and weekend drivers in the Sw Mt Vernon, IA area or anywhere with winding roads, this model delivers a rewarding drive while offering practicality with features like a rear window defroster and Starlink multimedia. Performance in this coupe is defined by its lightweight build and responsive drivetrain. While some competitors offer more horsepower, the BRZ Premium delivers a uniquely direct driving experience thanks to its rear-wheel-drive layout and independent suspension. The precise manual transmission encourages driver involvement and allows for quick gear changes. This setup results in agile handling and exceptional feedback, making it a favorite for those who value control and driving enjoyment over straight-line speed. Safety is a strong point with the BRZ Premium. Unlike some alternatives that reserve key safety technologies for higher trims, this coupe comes standard with ABS brakes, electronic stability control, brake assist, and a rearview camera. Dual front impact and side impact airbags, as well as an overhead airbag and occupant-sensing system, provide additional layers of protection. Traction control further enhances confidence, especially during spirited or adverse-weather driving. The Premium trim brings a host of features that enhance both comfort and convenience. Inside, you'll find cloth upholstery with red stitching, a leather shift knob, and performance design bucket seats for support during dynamic driving. The Subaru Starlink 6.2" Multimedia System, eight speakers, and steering wheel audio controls deliver in-cabin entertainment. Keyless entry, automatic headlights, and fully independent suspension round out a compelling set of standard equipment. Against main rivals like the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Ford Mustang, the BRZ Premium delivers outstanding value by combining a strong standard equipment list with proven durability. Its EPA-estimated 21 city and 29 highway MPG make it more efficient than some muscle-oriented competitors. Subaru's reputation for reliability and lower long-term ownership costs further solidify its position as a smart buy for those seeking an affordable, fun-to-drive sports coupe. Why choose the BRZ Premium over competitors? It offers a rare blend of precise handling, practical features, and value that's hard to match. What does it offer that others don't? Standard rearview camera, performance-oriented seats, and a close-ratio manual transmission all come at no extra charge.
