Active Auto Sales, located right here in Novato in Marin County, has this iconic two-door hatchback ready for a test drive and it brings a lot of character, practicality, and German engineering to the table at a price that makes sense for today's used car buyer. ===== About This 2016 Volkswagen Beetle 1.8T SE Hatchback ===== This 2016 Beetle comes in at 136,538 miles, which is very manageable for a turbocharged Volkswagen with a solid maintenance history. The 1.8T engine platform has been widely praised for its longevity when serviced regularly, and many owners comfortably drive these well past 150,000 to 200,000 miles. The SE trim sits comfortably in the middle of the Beetle lineup, offering meaningful upgrades over the base S while keeping things approachable. Whether you're commuting across Marin County or cruising down Highway 101 into San Francisco, this Beetle handles the Bay Area's varied terrain with ease. ===== 2016 Volkswagen Beetle Performance and Engine ===== ==== The 1.8T Turbocharged Four-Cylinder ==== Under the hood sits Volkswagen's well-regarded 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine the same engine family found across many VW and Audi products of this era. It produces around 170 horsepower and delivers a driving experience that feels genuinely spirited, not just adequate. Paired with a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, you get smooth daily driving with the option to take manual control of gear selection when you want a more engaging experience. Front-wheel drive keeps things predictable and confident in wet conditions something Bay Area drivers know matters when the winter rains roll in.
