The E60 M5 represents one of the most extraordinary chapters in BMW M history. Developed during an era when BMW was deeply involved in Formula 1, the fifth-generation M5 introduced an engine unlike anything previously offered in a production BMW sedan. Its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter S85 V10 produced 500 horsepower and delivered an unmistakable combination of high-revving performance, mechanical character, and motorsport-inspired engineering. Nearly two decades later, the E60 remains the only V10-powered M5 ever produced, representing one of BMW M's most ambitious engineering achievements. Central to the E60 M5's character is its 7-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG III), developed to complement the extraordinary performance of the S85 V10. Featuring selectable shift programs and steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles, the SMG transmission delivers an engaging, distinctly mechanical driving experience that reflects BMW M's motorsport-inspired engineering philosophy of the period. Combined with the S85's remarkable 8,250-rpm redline, the drivetrain provides a driving experience unlike any other generation of M5. Finished in Black Sapphire Metallic over Black Merino leather, this 2006 BMW M5 shows an extraordinary 3,778 miles. Its exceptionally limited use is the defining characteristic of this example, placing it in a mileage category rarely encountered among surviving E60 M5s. The understated Black Sapphire exterior and Black leather interior provide a timeless specification that allows the car's exceptional preservation potential and remarkable drivetrain to take center stage. BMW production records confirm this M5 was completed at the Dingolfing assembly plant on November 2, 2005, making it an early-production example of the V10-powered generation. Its extensive factory specification includes climate-controlled front M multifunction seats, heated front and rear seats, active backrest width adjustment, Comfort Access, Head-Up Display, Professional Navigation, Park Distance Control, Adaptive Xenon headlights, Professional HiFi DSP audio, an electric glass sunroof, and rear sunshades. Brushed Aluminum Shadow interior trim complements the otherwise understated Black Sapphire over Black specification. The accompanying CARFAX documents four reported owners and no accidents or damage reported. Its history includes extended ownership in Illinois, with subsequent periods in Colorado and Illinois. Early mileage records reflect remarkably limited use, with just 833 miles documented in 2012, 1,000 miles in 2018, and 1,585 miles in late 2021. Documented maintenance includes oil and fluid services, inspections, and additional mechanical attention despite the car's limited use. Now with Enthusiast Auto Group, this M5 will undergo our comprehensive inspection and preservation process, with particular attention given to the needs of an exceptionally low-mileage S85-powered example. Our objective is to maintain the originality and character that make a car like this so special while ensuring its mechanical condition and presentation meet the standards expected of an EAG offering. With just 3,778 miles showing, a legendary naturally aspirated V10, and a highly equipped Black Sapphire over Black specification, this 2006 M5 represents a compelling opportunity to experience and preserve one of the most distinctive performance sedans BMW has ever created.
