My husband bought this truck from his father in 2004. It had 9000 miles on it. He named it Skipper. This little truck has been nothing short of amazing! Restoring Skipper was going to be one of my husbands projects to do in retirement. Unfortunately, he passed away very suddenly last year. For the last four or five years, he hasn't been driven more than about 1000 miles a year. Mostly hauling yard debris to the dump. I'm not gonna lie he's not the most handsome fella. Plenty of surface rust and paint chips, but no through rust. I got the oil changed today and asked the technician to look at the frame for me. He told me it looked pretty good again, plenty of surface rust, but nothing rusted through. As far as I know, the only parts that have been replaced are the lower ball joints and the inner tie rod ends and also of course belts hoses filters, regular routine maintenance. We religiously change the oil every 3000 miles since we have had it. There are no Fluid leaks anywhere. I am really gonna hate to see him go but even more sad would be to watch him keep deteriorating in my driveway.
